The Opportunity
Are you an organized and detail-oriented professional with a passion for student admissions and recruitment? The Office of DVM Student and Academic Services is seeking a dedicated Admissions Assistant to support our Director of Admissions in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Join us in shaping the future of veterinary medicine at Cornell University!
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment Database Management: Independently manage recruitment database systems, including data entry, tracking, and designing ad hoc reports. Assist the Director in creating a recruitment strategy and provide institutional research related to admissions for the college.
- Prospective Student Engagement: Provide personalized services to email and telephone inquiries from prospective students. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of application requirements, admissions policies, and the DVM academic program.
- Admissions Process Management: Successfully manage the annual admissions process of over 1,800 student applications. Serve as a liaison between admissions and the Veterinary Medicine IT team. Track electronic copies, compile additional academic data, communicate with applicants, assist with technical support, and send out decision letters.
- Communication Efforts: Offer excellent customer service for frequent public inquiries. Manage email distribution lists, mass emails, newsletters, and assist with website updates.
- Event Logistics and Coordination: Assist in planning and implementing admissions committee meetings, on-campus recruiting events, and other meetings/events as necessary.
- Office Management: Update publication orders and delegate workflow for part-time employees and other support staff. Perform other general office management duties.
This is a full-time, Contract College position that is based in Ithaca, NY and fully on-site. Typical work hours are 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday.
What We Need
We are looking for a team member who is a team player, organized, personable, and self-motivated. Additionally, you will:
- Hold an Associate's degree and four to six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
- Be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Have knowledge and experience in database management and reporting.
- Demonstrate the ability to work as a strong team member who clearly, openly, and frequently communicates with others.
- Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Interact with varied clientele in a timely, courteous and professional manner at all times, as well as have the ability and willingness to work in a team based environment.
- Utilize excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
- Have strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
- Demonstrate commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
- Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
If you possess these experiences and skills this may be the role for you! There are a few other qualifications that we would view as incredibly helpful in this role, to include:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience in an academic setting desired.
- Knowledge of web design and database programming preferred.
- Previous experience using admissions CRM technologies especially Peoplesoft system is a plus.
