Position Summary:
The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
The School of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, and Business Law (AFIB) invites applications for a full-time fixed-term position in Business Law at the level of instructor. This position will begin in the Fall semester of 2025. The successful candidate will bring areas of teaching and research that complement and integrate with those of existing faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to advise students, be involved in appropriate student organizations as well as fulfill normal institutional service obligations. The ability to maintain an active research agenda resulting in scholarship in refereed journals and/or law reviews is required. Candidates should have a strong record or show strong promise to contribute to the intellectual and practical lives of students and other stakeholders of the School, College, University, and business community. Teaching responsibilities include four courses (face-to-face or online format) per semester. The successful candidate will possess the ability to teach diverse legal topics and their business applications. Intellectual contributions are expected in one or more of the following areas: technology law, international business law, business organizations, contracts and sales, labor and employment law, estates and trusts, bankruptcy, hospitality law, and/or business ethics. Teaching experience and research record should be commensurate with the rank sought. Moreover, teaching and service duties may require a 5-day per week presence on campus. The successful candidate must meet the AACSB accreditation requirements regarding the academic qualification of the College of Business faculty. The AACSB requirements for academic qualification mandate a minimum level of relevant research and publication in order to remain current in the field of teaching.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position: Minimum Qualifications:
JD degree from an ABA accredited law school is required. Meet the AACSB accreditation requirements regarding academic qualification of college of business faculty.
Preferred Qualifications:
Undergraduate or graduate teaching experience. Established record of intellectual contributions.
