DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Director, Triton Transfer Hub is a key member of the Student Success Programs (SSP) leadership team, and is responsible for providing direction to support, strengthen, and celebrate the transfer student experience, identity, and academic professional, and personal achievements at UC San Diego. Transfer students are one-third of the undergraduate class at the university, more than half are the first in their families to attend college and have unique and complex needs stemming from diverse identities, experiences, and backgrounds.
The Assistant Director improves the ranking and reputation of UC San Diego as an institution that is transfer receptive within California and nationally through a collective impact approach. Reporting to the Director of Student Success Programs, the Assistant Director engages in innovative, transformative, and creative leadership to coordinate academic, professional, and social enrichment programs designed to enhance transfer student belonging, retention, and degree completion.
The Assistant Director strategically and collaboratively works with campus and community partners to: A). Initiate, develop, and manage sustainable and scalable projects, programs, and initiatives that align with campus priorities and student needs to improve transfer student success. B). Leverage existing campus-wide transfer student success efforts with appropriate campus partners to improve outcomes. C). Establish and maintain partnerships and serve as liaison to external and community partners on transfer student needs and evidence-informed practices. D). Assess, evaluate, and track transfer-specific efforts to inform priorities, make modifications and identify impact. E). Increase the visibility of the Triton Transfer Hub through education and outreach. F). Highlight and celebrate the intersectional identities of transfer students and G). Envision and activate strategic objectives and goals, formulating strategies administrative policies, and processes to promote transfer student success.
The Assistant Director implements theory to practice, and provides training to build knowledge of and share evidence-informed strategies that support retention and success initiatives. Oversees management of the day-to-day operations, administration, and continued development of the Triton Transfer Hub working with the Director of Student Success Programs on space management initiatives, expansion, and needs. Builds cohesive professional and student staff teams to support and coordinate programs and services. Advises organization management, departments, and academic programs on the special needs of transfer students.
Delivers equity-minded, strength-based infrastructures and support to ensure transfer student retention and degree completion, as well as foster a transfer-receptive and serving culture at UC San Diego.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, Public Administration, Counseling or Education is highly desirable.
Demonstrated competencies and advanced knowledge in theories of multicultural counseling, learning, identity development, human and career development. Advanced knowledge of college student development and pedagogical theories related to transfer students. Proven ability to effectively conceptualize, coordinate, and assess learning opportunities that are consistent with student's stages of development and academic, professional, and personal needs. Ability to facilitate training and consult with students, academics and staff on theories and methods that advance transfer student success.
Demonstrated experience in developing, planning, and executing assessment plans and creating and administering evaluative instruments for measuring program effectiveness. Ability to direct others in developing and executing assessment plans. Experience with critical analysis, interpreting, writing, and presenting research data to broad audiences and making recommendations for improvements in program delivery, policies, procedures, or the student experience.
Knowledge and experience in working with historically underrepresented ethnic minority communities, first generation college students.
