Position Summary The Director of Spiritual Life works within the mission of Toccoa Falls College to cultivate a uniquely Christian learning community that integrates the pursuit of truth with Godly character to produce graduates prepared both personally and professionally for service. The Campus pastor supervises the Office of Spiritual Formation by providing direction, vision, and oversight for a variety of developmental initiatives campus wide, including the twice-weekly chapel program and the weekly small group experience. The Campus Pastor develops opportunities to enhance the worship, discipleship, personal development and spiritual lives of students.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary coordinator for all aspects of spiritual formation for the campus community including chapel, discipleship, prayer, retreats, conferences, special events, and service opportunities.
Direct the college chapel program, to include coordination of chapel calendar, contacting and selecting speakers, overseeing worship, creating alternative chapel offerings and communicating programs to the campus.
Speak regularly in chapel.
Establish a visible presence with students and maintain the spiritual pulse of the campus.
Work closely with the Director of Creative Arts and the Coordinator of the Worship Arts Concentration to plan the worship experiences in the chapel program.
Monitors and administers the mandatory spiritual formation credit system.
Provide confidential pastoral counseling to students.
Assist in counseling services and crisis intervention for students in partnership with the Director of Counseling Services.
Provide spiritual support to students and families in emergency situations.
Coordinate hosting logistics for out-of-town speakers as it relates to Departmental operations.
Manage evening events with selected chapel speakers.
Responsible for the ongoing development, management, assessment and expansion of programs and services that promote spiritual formation of the student body, staff, and faculty members.
Serve as an academic instructor in one (1) section of Foundations of Spiritual Formation Class each semester.
Work collaboratively with the Ministry Leadership Department regarding updates to the Foundations of Spiritual Formation Class.
Participate in special projects related to Spiritual Formation designated by President’s Cabinet.
Serve as the liaison with community religious organizations, pastors, and on-campus student groups (SGA student chaplains, etc.).
Collaborate with the Director of Creative Arts and the Music Department regarding the scheduling and use of Grace Chapel and the Performing Arts Center.
Serve on two committees: Quality Educational Program (QEP) and Assessment, Response, and Care (ARC)
Attend monthly Student Affairs Division and Director meetings.
Develop and maintain monthly Departmental reports.
Assist in revisions to the student handbook as it relates to Department content.
Supervise student volunteers within the Office of Spiritual Formation.
Develop, prepare and manage the department budget.
Assess the work of the Office of Spiritual Formation.
Have availability on evenings and weekends, as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree (M. Div.) or equivalent, and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in professional ministry, higher education, or related experience.
Possess a strong desire to work with students.
Ability to effectively reach and teach a diverse student body.
Spiritually mature Christian in agreement with the college statement of faith and committed to the vision, mission and values of Toccoa Falls College.
Outstanding supervisory skills.
Outstanding written and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree in a related field applicable to the position duties.
Experience working with college students in a campus ministry setting.
