About the Opportunity
Job Summary
The Director, Career Development and Experiential Learning leads career services and experiential learning for the REGIONAL CAMPUS, collaborating with career and experiential faculty and staff located at the REGIONAL CAMPUS and across the Northeastern Global University System.
Reporting to the Associate Dean at the REGIONAL CAMPUS, the focus of this position is planning, developing, and overseeing the delivery of career development programs (full time, coop, experiential learning) for all students at the REGIONAL CAMPUS.
The Director, Career Development and Experiential will lead a team of student facing co-op and career advisors and will be accountable for building and executing a best-in-class strategy to ensure career readiness for all students at the REGIONAL CAMPUS. This includes the design and delivery of career development and experiential learning programming related to networking, cover letter writing, job search, workplace skills development, resume building, mock interview prep, job readiness, etc.
The ideal candidate for this role is a strategic thinker and executor, who is motivated by student success and outcomes. This is an ideal role for someone who can design and execute a strategy, but who is also comfortable leading workshops, facilitating sessions, and working individually with students. We are looking for someone who is energized by the opportunity to help shape policies and culture at a growing campus.
Other responsibilities include: ensuring that students across all colleges and programs have consistent access to in-person and virtual career support; working with internal and external partners to create and deliver events and programs to meet evolving career development needs; ensuring that co-op positions are administered in a timely, efficient manner; and ensuring that students across all colleges and programs have access to experiential learning and career opportunities. The Director monitors trends to help shape priorities for new programs/services and new employer partnerships. The position requires some evening and weekend hours.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree preferred with experience in career design, coaching, or human resource development, 5-10 years of professional work experience in industry, technology-related fields or academia preferred. Experience with international students is required. Strong consulting skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with diverse constituents. Experience leading, building, and supervising a team required. Ability to effectively manage and support the performance/success and professional development of full-time staff. Excellent skills in relationship building, event planning, marketing, public relations and database management preferred. Goal oriented, possesses excellent presentation skills, is effective in building partnerships, extremely organized, professional and has a high level of customer service. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, database programs and data management and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
Responsible for supervising all student facing co-op and career advisors at the REGIONAL CAMPUS. Lead, engage and motivate employees.
Assist employees in navigating business processes and resolving issues. Administer and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.
Review staffing needs including developing job descriptions and recruitment plans.
Ensure that all university and college-level policies related to experiential learning are consistently applied at the REGIONAL CAMPUS and clearly communicated to staff and students.
Initiate and execute career-related collaboration across the global campus network
Represent the REGIONAL CAMPUS to senior leadership and other key stakeholders in career-related contexts.
Development and Delivery of Career Services
Design and manage overall career development/services for the campus, working across academic colleges. This includes managing and participating in delivery of in-person and virtual co-op and career advising to students across all colleges and programs; organizing and managing career fairs in collaboration with internal and external partners; organizing/conducting co-curricular career skill development workshops.
Work across the REGIONAL campus network to design and deliver programs that can be leveraged and customized across the network of campuses. This position will work with similar roles across the global network of campuses.
Strategy
Remain up to date regarding employment trends, experiential learning, workplace issues and management philosophies to prepare students to compete for and be successful in the job search. Be proactive and incorporate the above best practices into plans.
Support the collection, analysis, and presentation of data related experiential learning and post-graduate employment. Recommend and implement changes based on data.
The expected hiring range for this position is USD $84,790 to USD $131,425.00, based upon the position's location, scope and responsibilities.
