Summary of Position: | The Director of the Office of Multicultural Student Services will oversee/supervise the activities of the Office of Multicultural Student Services (OMSS), working closely with students, administrators, faculty, and staff across the institution to contribute to promoting a welcoming and inclusive campus environment. The Director and their staff serve as crucial resources and champions across the University to support the personal development and academic success of students of color and other historically marginalized and underrepresented students. The Director will lead in the development of programs, services, and strategic initiatives that focus on increasing access, persistence, retention, and success of historically marginalized and underrepresented students. In addition, the Director will manage all grants that the OMSS oversees, including but not limited to GEAR UP, KCP Visiting Professor, and KCP Future Faculty Fellowship Program. The Director will actively contribute to division initiatives and programs. | |

Experience managing and supervising teams. Experience with budget Management. | |

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: | Preference will be given to applicants with: Experience in event planning or managing programs Experience with grant writing, implementation, budget management, and assessment. Advising experience with Greek organizations. Experience working with college access programs such as GEAR UP or Trio Upward Bound. | |
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: | Leadership: Supervise Office Staff, including the Administrative Assistant, Assistant Director, and Pre-College Coordinator (GEAR UP). Additional grant-funded positions may be added as necessary. Lead the OMSS in delivering programs and services that align with the University’s DEIB plan and strategic plan. Create, facilitate, and participate in trainings, workshops, and programs that educate the campus community on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Facilitate assessment, evaluation, and annual reporting. Manage grant budget and reporting, including the GEAR UP Grant, KCP Visiting Professor Program, and KCP Future Faculty Fellowship program.
Collaboration: Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support student success. Oversee and manage teams to provide educational programs through cultural heritage initiatives that address racial equity. Serve on committees to create inclusive campus policies and coordinate responses to bias.
Student Development: Advise and support individual students and diverse student organizations. Provide information, advocacy, and referrals for students and families regarding personal and academic issues and manage crises as they arise.
General Responsibilities: Fulfill supervisory responsibilities in line with University policies and applicable laws. Maintain confidentiality of designated information and comply with University, federal, and state regulations. Comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Serve as a Campus Security Authority as defined by Clery and adhere to required reporting as defined by Title IX, University policy, and applicable laws. Demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members. Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives. Operates university motorized vehicles in a safe manner while performing job duties. Perform any other duties assigned within the position classification area. | |
