The primary role of the Assistant Director of Student Support is to manage the student support and retention services by supervising the Student Support Managers. The Assistant Director of Student Support will collaborate with the Online Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Graduate Program Director and the Associate (or Assistant) Director of Program Operations to ensure that approximately 350 students in the online CSD program are each contacted, advised, and supported throughout the process of meeting their academic and program requirements. The Assistant Director of Student Support will handle escalated student issues and create/organize social engagement and events for all students.
A Master's Degree and two years of relevant experience are required. A Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) degree and four years of relevant experience are preferred.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
Manage and oversee the student support team for student success and retention
Supervise the Student Support Managers (SSMs) by ensuring that
All 350+ students are contacted on an 'on-going basis' regarding their enrollment and academic requirements as determined by the Associate (or Assistant) Director of Program Operations
All transcripts and documents for the academic and clinical programs are obtained from 350+ students
All student records are updated with LOAs, new Plans of Study, extended graduation dates, and program withdraws
Student grades are consistently monitored.
Manage and resolve (when possible) escalated student issues related to
Program policies, rules, and procedures
Problems with registration schedules
Petition/waiver process
Other Baylor offices such as financial aid, registrar, and OALA
Place and release registration holds each trimester based on student completion of current enrollment requirements
Enroll students in simulations and program related Canvas courses
Manage student clinical clearances for practicum and internship
Communicate student issues with academic and placement teams
Conduct New Student Orientation and participate in Admissions Webinars
Create and organize student engagement events, newsletters, and media posts for academic and social outreach
Organize the student mentor/ambassador program and assign duties to students
Maintain academic education databases (Ex: Canvas, Zoom, Teams, Respondus Lockdown Browser, Slate) and manage all student files.
Assist in establishing the trimester course schedule and obtaining the textbook lists
Ensure students file for graduation and fulfill all graduation requirements.
Organize and obtain information for online student directories and distribute IDs.
Provide information and student data to enrollment and leadership committees, clinical faculty, strategic planning, program assessment, and data reviews for university and CAA requirements.
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
