This position requires face-to-face interactions with students, faculty, and staff. This position will provide academic advising to students in the College of Nursing undergraduate programs. Fosters student success by implementing proactive and appreciative advising strategies that help students stay on track to fulfill their educational goals. Advises students on university policy and procedures, program and degree requirements, and related academic matters.
Assists in student orientation, and other special events while also supporting initiatives of the Office of Student Affairs and Success. Connects students to campus resources on topics and services related to information for students, including academic, career, financial, psychological, etc. resources. Teaches University Survey course.
Minimum Required Qualifications: Masters degree required. 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.

* Effectively build relationships with students and possess adaptive relational skills
* Demonstrate advanced communication skills; able to provide detail and depth to information conveyed
* Demonstrate and apply historical knowledge of the academic advising profession, including GE, enrollment plans, changing demographics, etc.
* Able to apply theory to advising practice
* Understand and follow FERPA guidelines and engages in discussions with stakeholders
* Ability to tailor advising interactions to accommodate or incorporate students personal/cultural identity
* Discuss relevance of program to students goals
* Able to assess a student's potential for success in a field of study and make appropriate referrals
