Serve as Head Varsity Softball Coach: Demonstrate effective teaching and coaching skills, tactics and technique; Plan and implement game strategies for demonstration at practices and varsity competitions; Plan and organize team practices and develop multi-year varsity competition schedules; Develop and implement strategies to recruit student athletes; assess team's future needs (numbers, skills); identify schools and individuals to target for recruitment. Develop recruitment schedule and implement recruitment plan including supervising one or more Assistant Varsity Coaches. Scout student athletes following NCAA (National Collegiate Athletics Association) and UAA (University Athletics Association) regulations; contact parents and students to evaluate students' athletic ability and promote interest in attending NYU. In consultation with Admissions Officer and Academic Affairs Advisor, develop student athlete profiles and recommend admission assessing their athletic and academic potential. Ensure compliance with NCAA, UAA and University regulations; serve as voting member of sports committees including recommending changes in contest rules and athletes' code of conduct.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education: Master's degree
Required Experience: 3 years' experience as Head Coach or Assistant coach at high school or college level or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience: Experience coaching high-school and/or college-level teams in specific sport.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: CPR Certification (or ability to obtain). High level of interpersonal/motivational skills. Knowledge of NCAA rules. Must pass yearly NCAA rules test. Must be able to operate a car or van.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Experience as a player at college level and continuing education/certifications in specific sport.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $81,900.00 to USD $100,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
