The AssistantDirector of Fiscal and Grant Administration is responsible for managinginternal operations within the Office for Nursing Research related to fiscalmanagement and research grant administration to include development ofappropriate financial controls and procedures, faculty start up funds,procurement, pre- and post-award sponsored administration, budgeting, andfinancial reporting. To this end, he/she works with the Associate Dean ofFinance and Administration and Associate Dean of Research to provide high levelstrategic guidance and forecasting on finance and research-related matters forthe department.

Highly active and continually growing, the Office for Nursing Research (ONR) currently has 15 grants with an annual research expenditure of approximately $4 million. ONR continues to increase grant productivity by guiding and supporting faculty in their research endeavors. Also, responsible for managing faculty start up fund packages for new faculty members. This position is responsible for the management and training of the fiscal and grant specialist and for overseeing all aspects of the financial operations including maintaining stability and solvency for grant related purchases and adhering and interpreting policies for grant funding. They are expected to continually work with the Associate Dean for Research to plan and carry out the tactical efforts and financial initiatives of the department.

Key responsibilities include:

Financial Management: Manage ONR financial operations including procurement, reconciliation, budgeting and, forecasting of sponsored research activity and faculty start up funds. Establish appropriate inter-departmental financial controls and procedures that conform to University policy as well as OMB Uniform Guidelines. Manage the maintenance of ONR's research financial data and generate reports and statistics as requested. Responsible for preparing annual research budget and monitoring expenditures throughout the year. Oversight and management of startup funds for the faculty. Deliver monthly /quarterly forecast reports to Associate Dean of Research on the financial state of affairs for ONR. Collaborate with Associate Dean of Finance and Administration on requested ONR related financial reports/data.

Department Operations (ONR): Manage ONR daily operations; set priorities for long- and short-term objectives; work collaboratively with Associate Dean for Research to develop strategic objectives for research. Serve as department liaison for nursing research to university administrative offices including Student Services, Human Resources, Office for Sponsored Programs, Controller's office and the Office of Dean for Nursing. Review department policies and procedures and ensure compliance with OMB Uniform Guidelines. Provide advice and guidance to ONR members, including faculty, regarding research related finances, compliance and policy matters.

Grant Administration: Manage pre- and post-award sponsored administration. Ensure compliance with all federal guidelines including OMB Uniform Guidelines as well as assist with all OMB A-133 audits. Implement
and manage research related personnel activities including PeopelSoft recruiting tasks, faculty buyouts and summer salary. Review and oversee delivery of monthly grant reports to faculty. Meet with faculty on a monthly/quarterly basis to review grant activity offering strategic guidance and re-forecasting if necessary.

Procurement: Oversee vendor contract negotiations for ONR to secure best pricing and the highest customer service standards.
Supervision: Manage and train ONR administrative assistant on sponsored research processes. Constantly monitor workload to maintain manageable levels and prioritize duties based upon urgency and deadlines.

* Responsible for training new grant personnel on Boston College procedures for grant spending; troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise throughout the lifecycle of the award; and perform other duties, as required.

Qualifications:

BA/BS Required, MBA or equivalent preferred
