Serves as direct liaison to the College of Medicine; provides direct counseling on financial aid wellness including financial aid eligibility and debt management to all College of Medicine current/prospective students; resolves current or potential problems with financial aid; processes necessary documents to secure awarded or additional financial aid resources for students enrolled in the College of Medicine; delivers presentations all of College of Medicine current and prospective students. Provides administrative assistance in the verification/certification area and the awarding area for undergraduate, graduate and professional students; verifies eligibility; awards and revises financial aid packages; approves/denies appeals; authorizes scholarships; monitors accounts; assures compliance with institutional, state and federal regulations; provides information to staff in SFA and College of Medicine; assists with the development of policies and procedures; maintains statistics; researches and resolves problems; serves on committees and performs special duties as assigned; this position is split 80/20 between the College of Medicine and Student Financial Aid.
Education/Experience
Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience; 4 years of relevant experience, demonstrated skills in effective written and verbal communications; ability to work in a highly collaborative student services team environment; this position requires successful completion of a background and credit check.
Desired: Experience in financial aid environment highly desired; knowledge of federal. state and OSU regulations, policies and procedures; demonstrated skills in public speaking, counseling and ability to work with students/parents from diverse backgrounds including different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
