Summary of Duties:
This position supports the mission of Student Affairs by providing marketing and communication services that ensure future students, current students, faculty/staff, and the WSU community are aware of opportunities that enhance the student experience. This position coordinates the day-to-day marketing and communication operations, develops and implements annual marketing plans and builds collaborative working relationships with departments within the Division of Student Affairs. This position has responsibility for .5 FTE staff who are involved in marketing and promotional activities.
The successful candidate will begin at one of the below classifications depending on experience.
Required Qualifications:
Communication Consultant 1
A Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, or related field; or four years of writing/editing/public relations experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Communication Consultant 2
A Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, or related field AND one year of writing/editing/public relations experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Communication Consultant 3
A Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, or related field AND three year of writing/editing experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Preferred Qualifications for all levels:
Master's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
Demonstrated experience planning and implementing marketing, communications, and promotional strategies using a variety of channels and mediums including web, social media, print advertising, promotions, outreach, and public relations.
Demonstrated experience writing professional communications pieces including newsletters, press releases, articles, and blogs.
Proven ability to generate innovative ideas and implement them into creative marketing strategies.
Experience training and directing the work of other employees.

Communications Consultant 1: $3,317 to $4,410 | Range 38 (Step A-M)
Communications Consultant 2: $4,093 to $5,501 | Range 47 (Step A-M)
Communications Consultant 3: $4,517 to $6,077 | Range 51 (Step A-M)
Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
