Position Summary: The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
The Director of Development and Corporate Partnerships (DOD) position will focus on cultivating and securing resources to support key goal areas of the current comprehensive campaign with a primary focus on the College of Engineering and Technology and secondary focus areas on university-wise corporate and foundation philanthropic engagement.
The DOD will be a direct report to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development and will work closely with the Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology to advance the vision and strategic plan for the College.
The DOD will spend the majority of their time managing a portfolio of donors and prospective donors with an emphaiss on industry and corporate partners. The portfolio will be weighted to the qualification stages of the donor cycle (70-80%) and the DOD will work to cultivate and solicit major gifts with a focus on capital needs identified in the campaign feasibility study and case for support. The DOD will utilize best practices for development including documentation of all actions per the division's prospect management policies.

The DOD will utilize best practices for development including documentation of all actions per the division's prospect management policies.15% - Campus EngagementThe DOD will work closely with the supervisor, college/division/unit partners, and other external relations stakeholders to ensure that all marketing and communication materials accurately reflect the priorities of the campaign.10% - Supporting the mission of Western Carolina University and the priorities of the Division of Advancement through attendance at events, support of colleagues, participation in university and division-wide trainings, and being an good-natured and well-humored colleague.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position:
Minimum Qualifications: -Bachelors Degree-3 years experience in non-profit, higher education, or relevant development/sales/customer facing role.-Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for employment-related sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree5 years non-profit or higher education fundraising experienceExperience working in capital campaigns with a focus on 'bricks and mortar' capital projectsExperience working with Raisers Edge CRMExperience in fundraising communications and marketing.Development experience in Engineering, Business, or Athletics
