POSITION SUMMARY:
The Admission Recruiter must be a naturally persuasive, creative problem solver who thrives in an upbeat environment with non-standard and varied working hours. A self-motivated, enthusiastic, goal-oriented individual with superior presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills and will have demonstrated ability to follow direction, problem solve, manage multiple priorities and meet goals. This is a sales-like admissions and prospect management approach to a designated recruitment territory in an environment where recruiters are responsible for reaching enrollment and net revenue goals assigned to them. Daily responsibilities include communication with a large number of prospective students through heavy phone outreach. Personal e-mails, notes, individual appointments, and group presentations are also expected. This position will involve the planning of prospective student recruitment activities, extensive outreach and travel.
The Admissions Recruiter serves as a representative of Duquesne University at both on- and off-campus recruitment events, helps to design, implement and execute undergraduate recruitment strategies and manages long-term admission goals in an assigned area as directed by the Admissions leadership team.in an assigned area as directed by the Admissions leadership team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruits undergraduate students to achieve enrollment objectives
Daily responsibilities include communication with a large number of prospective students through heavy phone outreach. Personal e-mails, notes, individual appointments, and group presentations are also expected.
Includes evening and weekend work, extensive phone use and telemarketing, travel, and directive counseling for individuals and groups.
Makes recommendations to improve recruitment tactics.
Through heavy use of outgoing contacts via phone, email, IM, etc., the recruiter cultivates, engages, grades, persuades and closes prospective students. Always qualifies conversation and generates next steps (application, enrollment deposit, FAFSA, housing application, registration, etc.)
Determine the best next contact for each of the hot prospects in the territory. This involves regular use of the arsenal, which comprises both printed and web information collected for this purpose and members of the campus community - i.e., faculty, alumni, current students, coaches and parents of current students.
Makes financial aid packaging/depth sounding calls.
Leads group information sessions and also meets one-on-one with parents and prospective students to provide information and assist in the application process; gives campus tours. Cultivate relationships with alumni, guidance counselors and other constituents in the territory to assist with the recruitment process.
Must become knowledgeable about all aspects of Duquesne University including academic programs, campus events and activities, orientation, athletics, housing, financial aid, billing, college policy, and important dates.
Evaluates undergraduate applicants’ academic credentials/participates in the admission decision-making process for assigned territory, including awarding of appropriate scholarships.
After receipt of application materials, determines and informs students of acceptance and award of scholarships.
Reports to senior enrollment management leadership regarding the status of application review in assigned territory, school/program(s).
Represent the university at on- and off-campus admissions events and programs, requiring the coordination and execution of a personal travel schedule (travel may occur both in- and out-of-state on weekdays and weekends throughout the year). Travel required 25% of the time.
This position will involve the planning of prospective student recruitment activities, extensive outreach and travel.
Manages travel budget on a University procurement card.
Performs other related duties as assigned in support of a dynamic, goal-oriented team.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Current PA Driver’s license.
Preferred qualifications:
Minimum of 1-year experience in admissions or student services at the college/university level.
Fluency in Spanish preferred.
Strong technology skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Banner, Slate, social media and integrated database preferred.

Ability to exceed recruitment goals, facilitate staff development opportunities, exhibit teamwork, model analytical & critical thinking, engage in creative problem solving and demonstrate high levels of time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work additional hours and weekends during peak Enrollment Management periods.
