SUMMARY
Central Catholic High School (“CCHS” or “School”) is seeking a full-time faculty/teaching professional for a Religious Studies Teacher at a premier, Catholic, college-preparatory school for the 2024-2025 Academic Year.
Define goals and expectations of each class, plan and deliver well-structured lessons, use a variety of teaching strategies, and test and evaluate student progress frequently.
Develop, clearly communicate and consistently implement procedures in their classroom that create an efficient learning environment.
Maintain and regularly update electronic students' classroom records and class data and take all steps to ensure the security of such data.
Demonstrate capacity to create and maintain a positive learning environment in which students’ diverse backgrounds, identities, strengths, and challenges are respected and utilized.
Post online and update on at least a regular basis all of the daily homework assignments and due dates for announced quizzes, tests and projects.
Seek and develop an understanding of each student's needs and abilities through frequent consultations with school counselors and administrators.
Support, cooperate with, and administer school procedures and policies as set forth in the Student-Parent Handbook and the Faculty & Staff Handbook.
Comprehend and commit themselves to the educational and spiritual mission of the school.
Further professional growth by way of graduate courses and/or workshops.
Keep informed of new developments and strategies in the teaching field and in their disciplines.
Promote collegiality among staff in their area and the entire faculty.
Communicate an enthusiasm for learning and are themselves examples of life-long learners.
Support and participate in school sponsored activities.
Exercise their legitimate authority firmly and impartially.
Attend professional staff development programs as well as faculty and academic area meetings.
Other duties as assigned that are consistent with the forgoing responsibilities and objectives.
About The CCHS Religious Studies Department
The Religious Studies Curriculum invites students to learn about Catholic Christianity in the Marist tradition and to reflect on their lives in that light. Students develop the ability to apply the lessons of Catholic social justice and teaching to today’s world. Through a variety of core courses, students develop a basic understanding of the Church’s teachings about Jesus. Knowledge of Christian lifestyles and an immersion in Marist heritage and spirituality serve as models for the development of a people committed to a life of service and justice.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in academic area is required.
Master’s degree in academic area or related field is preferred or in the process of achieving.
Strong commitment to the mission of the school and incorporating such mission in the classroom.
Understands and is supportive of the Marist philosophy as well as CCHS policies & procedures.
Enjoys working with culturally diverse populations.
Possess effective written and oral communication, with the ability to interact with a wide range of audiences, including administrators, faculty, staff, students and families.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite / Google Suite and experience with computer applications used for instruction, grading, attendance and others particular to this position.
High level of professionalism, confidentiality and integrity.
Strong interpersonal skills in diplomacy, tact and/or discretion; maintain appropriate boundaries with students and be able to handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and resolve problems quickly and independently.
Possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic and passion in a team environment.
Is a self-starter, possesses a willingness to assist others, and is able to collaborate effectively with colleagues and works as part of a team.
