Title: Part-Time Nursing Clinical and Lab Faculty

General Summary: The Middlesex Community College Nursing Program seeks to fill various part-time clinical and lab faculty positions at all levels of the program. The need is for faculty members dedicated to excellence and able to work inclusively with students of diverse identities and backgrounds. Our part-time nursing faculty are knowledgeable and creative professionals who have demonstrated commitment to meeting the diverse learning needs of our students. Courses may include Fundamentals of Nursing, Pediatrics, Gerontology and/or Medical /Surgical Nursing for the Summer and Fall 2021 semesters. Clinical and lab classes meet on a variety of days that may include Saturdays.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate Learning:
Create an environment in classroom, laboratory and clinical settings that facilitate student learning and achievement of desired cognitive, affective, and psychomotor outcomes.
2. Facilitate Learner Development & Socialization:
Help students develop as nurses and integrate the values and behaviors expected of those who fulfill that role. Promote employability skills and impress upon each student the importance of exhibiting appropriate conduct in the work setting. Be available to support students.
3. Use Assessment & Evaluation Strategies:
Use a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate student learning in the classroom, laboratory and clinical settings, as well as in all domains of learning.
4. Function within the Educational Environment:
Align and deliver course content in accordance with program/college/Board of Nursing policies and procedures, as well as accreditation standards. Prepare and teach each course from syllabus consistent with program framework and course descriptions/outcomes. Maintain and submit accurate records of student data by the deadlines determined. Maintain academic standards consistent with a professional Nursing degree program.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Hold a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing.
Possess a Master's degree in Nursing. Consideration will be given to those candidates with a Bachelor's degree in nursing and necessary qualifications as outlined in the Massachusetts Board of Nursing Regulation [244CMR 6.04(2)(b) 3]
Possess a minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in nursing or its equivalent within the last 5 years.
Evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical instruction.
Maintain expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities.
Ability to work well with and to be sensitive to students, faculty and staff of diverse identities such as sexual orientation, socioeconomic level, cultural, race and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual skills
Teaching experience in an academic setting
Master's degree in Nursing Education
