SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision of the Executive Director, Student Success and HSI Project Director, the incumbent will be responsible for outreach activities related to healthcare professions and other STEM careers, case management for current students, and intrusive transfer efforts to improve program progress and completion.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS):
Bachelor?s degree and two (2) years related student services experience or related work experience specific to the duties and responsibilities described.
PREFERRED:
Knowledge of Health Science programs and STEM; Knowledge of Student Enrollment and transfer processes. Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish.
CERTIFICATION OR LICENSES:
Texas Driver License, or ability to obtain one.
The incumbent will:
Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Prepare students each semester to ensure they are on the correct achievement path for completion and entry into Health Professions and other STEM careers.
Liaise with TAMUCT and other area Universities for transfer options beyond Temple College.
Formulate pre-graduate students and post-graduate students with position postings available through the online system and networking.
Answer inquiries and provide information on advising services to students, faculty, parents, and the general public about healthcare professions and other STEM majors.
Communicate and interact with staff in Student and Enrollment Services departments to coordinate, collaborate, and communicate Health Sciences and STEM pathways.
Outreach, communicate and interact with staff, counselors and instructors at the ISD?s who partner with the college for recruitment programs specific to Health Sciences.
Participate with Health Sciences and STEM faculty and staff in information sessions and outreach events.
Support students in the Health Sciences with persistence by addressing individual needs.
Develop and maintain case management strategies with a focus on Health Sciences and STEM careers.
Participate in training to identify mental health problems.
Participate in career and transfer workshops.
Maintain appropriate documentation and records of services provided to learners.
Operate, and answer multiple telephone lines and assist with inquiries, screen, and forward calls.
Refer students in need of accommodations to the Coordinator of Student Accommodations.
Operate fax machine, computer, scanner, and must use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to produce correspondence and other documents.
Attend conferences, and seek out professional development to remain current, and gain more knowledge on industry issues and standards.
Receive students? transcripts from other colleges; examines transcripts of courses, and determines which courses will be accepted routinely for transfer credit, and which courses may articulate into other courses for institutional credit.
Assist students with admission and records documents with change of major, application for diploma, and change of information.
Provide advising services for prospective Health Science students regarding programs of study, academic plans, course selection, and degree planning.
Assist students connecting to appropriate college and community resources as needed.
Provide assistance for Academic transfer advising and other campus resources.
Assist students in assessing academic skills, interpret student advisement testing, and/or specific enrollment testing.
Respond to Retention Alert cases submitted by Health Science faculty and assigned by the Director of Retention.
Identify and assist students in Health Science majors and who are at-risk.
Assist department chairs to determine articulation agreements, outreach events or specialized Health Science events and other STEM activities, advising as needed.
Develop relationships with ISD Health Science instructors and develop a plan to identify and recruit graduating seniors to TC from those Health Science programs.
Assist struggling Health Science majors and students.
Perform miscellaneous job-related office duties as required.
