ABOUT THE POSITION The Islamic Center at NYU is looking for a Researcher to conduct research and collect data relevant to Islam and Muslims in a college setting. The role will report to the Executive Director and will primarily work with the 12 Muslim Student clubs at NYU, while overseeing all student-led and student-focused initiatives at The Islamic Center at NYU (ICNYU).
This is a full-time, at-will position on an open-ended term, subject to program priorities, exemplary performance and availability of funds. QUALIFICATIONS ? Great interpersonal skills and experience supporting and working within a team environment ? Excellent verbal and written communication skills ? Strong time management and organizational skills, with an ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment and a proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously ? Goal-oriented: ability to stay focused on creating winning results ? Excellent communications skills; procedure oriented ? Knowledge, familiarity of and work with diverse Muslim communities ? Bachelor's degree in relevant field ? At least 2 years' relevant experience including planning and implementing special projects and events, and advising student population or equivalent combination ? Relevant experience in a college or university environment or working with Muslim communities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Researcher/Data analysis ? Research current trends amongst college Muslim students to help develop programming and events relevant to diversity needs ? Establish relationships with Muslim students on campus to better understand trends and patterns in current and historical media narratives relevant to the Islamic Center's work and mission statement ? Write and present information gathered in research and recommendations about material to key staff ? Provide a monthly report to the Executive Director on trends and data of the Islamic Center's social media growth and progress ? Design and execute trainings based off of research and data collection
Administrative/Operational ? Conduct Trainings and support planning and coordination of programs and events where needed ? Evening and weekend hours are required
