The Assistant Dean of Housing & Residence Life is an integral member of the leadership team within the Student Life Department. The position has primary responsibility for residence life and housing, and will positively contribute to the development of a healthy, inclusive residential living environment by intentionally and regularly interacting with resident students and staff.
Duties include the selection, training, and supervision of Director of Housing, Director of Residence Life and Residence Hall Directors and Resident Assistants; development and execution of educational programming by Residence Life staff; management of the Housing Selection Process and facility maintenance; and operation of the college's residence life emergency on-call system.
The Assistant Dean of Housing and Residence Life is a key member of the student development leadership team and works closely with the Executive Vice President and other staff and faculty to implement student development initiatives across the division and university.
Direct Report: Executive Vice President
Develop and manage overall responsibility for the implementation of a comprehensive Housing & Residence Life program.
Ensure training and supervision of all professional staff within housing & residence life.
Strengthen the existing community engagement programming model and further develop living-learning communities.
Manage undergraduate and graduate housing selection process for all residence halls and apartment complexes, for both new and continuing students.
Lead the development and improvement of Resident Assistant training.
Manage the housing software system and the relationship with Information Technology.
Develop a transparent communication process with Service Operations personnel to maintain proper upkeep and maintenance of residence halls and apartment complexes.
Manage the move in and move out procedures and volunteer management in the fall and spring semesters.
Potentially serve as a member of the CARE Team, assisting in the management of student and campus crisis protocols/situations.
Review and enforce residence hall & apartment complexes policies, and revise them as needed.
Manage Housing & Residence Life budget and develop budget projections.
Generate & maintain reports as required by the Executive Vice President.
Work collaboratively and regularly with the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards and other academic and administrative units from across the campus.
Represent Student Life in assisting Enrollment Management and Student Success with Lipscomb Fridays, New Student Orientation, Quest Week programs and activities, and other admitted student programs.
Conduct key conversations with parents of residential students at time and as appropriate.
Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Lipscomb University, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Lipscomb University mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies.
Maintain a high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Engage professionally with national, regional, and local housing associations.
Work with the Vice President of Community and Government Relations to ensure that all local and neighborhood codes are being followed in the residence halls pertaining to noise, lighting, etc.
Required Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience preferred. Previous work experience in student affairs or higher education is preferred.

Bachelor's degree required
Experience working in a student culture and managing multiple related tasks.
