General Description: The Accommodations and Accessibility Services Counselor reports to the Director of Accommodations and Accessibility Services and develops, implements, and manages services for students with disabilities.Duties and Tasks:Determine eligibility for services in accordance with section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the ADA and other regulations.Evaluate documentation, recommend appropriate accommodations, provide counseling and guidance, assist with academic and personal concerns, and complete referrals to specialized individuals and agencies.Complete administrative tasks related to the provision of services to students with disabilities, including entering case notes and other information into a database management system, disseminating pertinent information, and responding to emails.Maintain accurate and updated records of all students receiving accommodations that are consistent with College practices and federal and state laws.Recruit, hire, train and schedule Readers, Scribes and Notetakers.Provide support with the provision of assistive technology and interpreting services, as needed.Provide ongoing training to faculty and staff in a variety of formats, including but not limited to workshops, webinars, guest speakers, individual consultations and in academic division and discipline meetings.Participate in campus and community outreach and campus and/ or college committees and special projects.Attend professional development activities within and outside the college to stay updated on changes in the field.Instruct Student Development (SDV) College Success Skills classes.Other duties as assigned.
