The Highlights:
Reporting to the Assistant Dean, the Director of Admissions is responsible for The Theatre School's undergraduate and graduate student recruitment, enrollment, marketing, and scholarship process and is guided by the need to attract a highly talented, academically admissible and diverse pool of students to be auditioned/interviewed. The Director of Admissions is The Theatre School's front line representative to prospective students, counselors, feeder schools, peer professionals, and other university offices. Multi-tasking, people skills, data management excellence, confidence working with technology, commitment to diversity, big picture thinking and personalism define the person in this position.
What You'll Do:
Recruitment - Based on established enrollment goals, identify, cultivate, and manage resources that will deepen prospect pool, with a focus on recruiting a diverse class including planning and executing Admissions marketing campaign, attending recruitment events and meeting with prospective students. Attend and/or coordinate participation in college fairs, theatre festivals/conventions, high school visits, open houses, and meetings. Remain professionally active and connected. Coordinate special projects that promote the school's visibility.
Application Processing & Review â“ Manage receipt and entry of all application materials throughout the application, audition/interview and decision process. Review applications and decision applicants. Report and interpret data and trends for statistical reports for annual reports and to inform the recruitment process.
Scholarship Awards and Appeals -- Work with committee to determine individual scholarships for each admitted student prior to releasing admission decision. Counsel students and families through financial aid appeal process. Manage scholarship budget.
Plan & Execute Auditions/Interviews â“ Organize on-site, virtual, and regional auditions/interviews including advertising, travel & space arrangements and all associated follow up.
Manage Admissions Office â“ Supervise one full-time assistant director of admissions, and a number of part-time student employees. Orchestrate operational structure of the Admissions office.
Manage Budget - Work with Business Operations Manager to keep accurate spending and income records. Plan for most effective and efficient use of Admissions recruitment budget resources.
The Director of Admissions directly supervises and is responsible for hiring one full-time exempt staff member (Assistant Director of Admissions) and 15-20 student employees. The Director of Admissions is responsible for hiring decisions and for managing work assignments.
The Director of Admission is responsible for managing a $135,000+ annual recruitment budget, including strategic allocation, spending and reconciling with the Business Operations Manager.
What You'll Need:
Master's degree preferred. Previous university and/or admissions experience required. Theatre or arts related background preferred.
Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
Periodically lift more than 25 pounds.
Managerial and people skills essential for this position. Minimum computer skills should include proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Google suite applications. Slate or similar CRM management software experience required.
Position requires frequent weekend and evening time commitments for auditions, interviews and recruitment events. Required travel for recruitment to conferences and festivals as well as for regional auditions and interviews, totaling 5 to 6 weeks annually.
