Job Summary/Basic Function
The Office of Diversity & Inclusion Graduate Assistant (GA) will serve both the Multicultural Scholars Program and the InclusiveMU Student Organization components for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. The graduate assistant will be responsible for the following:
Multicultural Scholars Program
Assist with planning the multicultural scholars monthly and annual events (meet and greet, scholarship competition)
Schedule and attending monthly meetings
Program planning & logistics
Assist with managing & tracking program requirements
InclusiveMU Student Organizations
Present and assist with coordination at L.E.A.D. Council meetings
Assist with attending and monitoring InclusiveMU student organization events
Assist with assessing learning outcomes of L.E.A.D. Council
Assist with leadership development and trainings for students in cultural organizations
Other Office Duties:
Must be willing to engage in activities that will encourage dialogue, introspection and self-reflection, open-mindness, empathy, and intentionality
Monthly creation and delivery of writing content for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion Newsletter
Assess, recruit and monitor progress of student committees, focus groups and cultural organizations
Collaborating with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion staff including but not limited to, the Director of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, program coordinators, the Assistant Dean of Student Involvement and the Dean of Students
Ensuring deadlines are met for completion and delivery
Posting to all social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, with event flyers, live updates of events happening on campus, and a variety of diversity facts or interesting posts.
Assist with supervision of work-study students
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
Must be studying in a graduate-level program at Maryville within the School or Business, School of Education or the College of Arts and Sciences, and have an understanding of (or willingness to learn about) cultural differences and cultural competence
Excellent writing, organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently (with little supervision) as well as on a team
Must be willing to engage in activities that will encourage introspection and self-reflection, open-mindedness, empathy, and intentionality
Eligible and willing to drive a university van
Ability to carry up to 50 lbs
Work some evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to engage and interact with students from multicultural backgrounds
Strong communication skills and the ability to create and facilitate presentations and workshops
Strong computer and research skills
Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social justice, or passion and willingness to learn more about this aspect of student affairs, higher education
Strong critical thinking skills
Comfortable working with students one-on-one and in group settings
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Compensation: tuition credit up to 6 hours and a $1500 stipend for the 2024 spring semester.
