The Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Johns Hopkins University is excited to accept applications for the role of Financial Analyst. Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion/Deputy Chief Diversity Officer, the Financial Analyst will work closely with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) leadership as well as leaders within the Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) to manage the operating budget process, develop and implement an effective budget management strategy, as well as provide other financial services.
The successful candidate will possess the knowledge needed to: 1) operate at a micro and macro level to help manage and project the finances of ODI and CDI; 2) collaborate with University Administration finance staff to help manage the university's robust Roadmap budget; and 3) identify fiscal opportunities for ODI and CDI to support and engage campus and community partners.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Management
Provide strategic financial advice and counsel to the Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion/Chief Diversity Officer.
Develop and manage the budget planning process for ODI and CDI.
Manipulate SAP data and create easily understood reports to help facilitate strategic decisions.
Analyze monthly budget reports for individual cost centers utilizing knowledge of planned performance and trend analysis.; Develop a year end projection.; Pursue anomalies and process transfers if needed.
Track and process transfers of shared expenses within ODI, CDI, and other JHU entities.
Develop and maintain an internal budget.
Conduct periodic audits of ODI/CDI travel documents.
Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly financial reports for ODI and CDI leadership.
Prepare reports including analysis of historical and current trends and forecasting of future scenarios.
Meet regularly with budget managers to gain in-depth knowledge of spending patterns and incorporate meeting findings into recommendations for improved practices.
Compile data for analysis and forecasting purposes; run reports as needed for ODI and CDI area.
Analyze and verify revenue and expenses to ensure appropriate spending and billing practices.
Prepare financial summaries and any other ad hoc reports for presentation.
Financial Knowledge/Collaboration
Participate in divisional and university wide quarterly and year-end closing.
Work alongside University Administration (UA) finance and University Student Services (USS) finance teams to identify best practices for effectively managing ODI and CDI budgets.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all finance related matters with the UA and USS finance offices.
May be asked to work with University Finance on special projects.
Additional Financial Knowledge & Responsibilities
Maintain in-depth knowledge of university policies and procedures to help assure compliance.
Provide both formal and informal financial training to all staff who utilize the university finance system.
May serve as an approver of financial documents and transactions including expenditure (e.g., purchasing card and travel) and budget.
Serve as an engaging team member by regularly contributing ideas to content planning and brainstorming discussions.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
Three years progressively responsible related financial/accounting experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in relevant discipline.
Five years related experience.
Experience with SAP.
Proficient in Excel.
Excellent analytical capabilities.
