About the Opportunity
Summary
Reporting directly to the College Dean, the Assistant Dean of Diversity Initiatives and Engagement leads the programs dedicated to enhancing diversity initiatives across the College for faculty, staff and students, which includes leading programs to enhance student experience of both prospective and current students in the College of Arts, Media and Design. For students, this includes pre-college development, recruitment, mentorship, and retention throughout student experience in CAMD and in close coordination with department level initiatives, admissions and advising staff, and the work of the Assistant Dean of Student Experience. For faculty and staff, this includes working with the relevant CAMD Associate Deans and proactively partnering across all levels of the organization to develop, implement, and track progress against ongoing strategic and tactical initiatives that enhance CAMD's work environment, with specific focus on capacity building, as well as organizational culture and change management. This role will reinforce the importance of building trust by enabling a culture of empowerment and by driving a culture of belonging and inclusion for the CAMD Community.
As a member of the CAMD leadership team, the Assistant Dean is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating progress with respect to goals related to diversity, equity, and inclusion for the College. This position will work closely with the chair of the CAMD Dean DEIB Advising Board on faculty and staff initiatives, help develop robust structures to support faculty and staff appropriately, and support the college community at large, to ensure an inclusive and supportive workplace and learning community, and to facilitate access and communication with University services. This key role will spearhead a number of critical programs for CAMD including the student mentor program, Summer Bridge Program, as well as engaging with CAMD Portfolio Applications, appropriate College Affinity Groups, etc., and.
The Assistant Dean of Diversity Initiatives and Engagement will have key responsibility for overseeing the nature of the student, staff and faculty experience in CAMD, connecting with both Associate and Assistant Deans, as well as the various leaders in Departments, Advising, Coop, etc. who have key responsibilities to lead initiatives in these areas. This leadership position will serve as a resource and collaborative partner to enhance diversity and inclusive excellence throughout the college.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or certificate preferred in organizational development, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging, psychology, sociology or equivalent corporate, nonprofit, or related fields.
A minimum of eight to ten years' experience in academic program and student services , organizational development, strategic planning, change management or diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work, or related fields.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated effectiveness serving as a resource to faculty members, students, and staff.
Excellent organizational and oral/written communication and presentation skills, including effective workshop facilitation skills.
Demonstrated skills in leveraging storytelling, and diplomacy in crucial conversations.
Ability to motivate, influence a variety of stakeholders, and peer groups.
Adaptable and flexible with a strong collaborative style and work ethic
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Self-starter and team player who possesses initiative, versatility, flexibility.
Ability to handle varied tasks concurrently in a fast-paced and sometimes pressured setting.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues and solve problems creatively and effectively.
This position will be based on our Boston, MA campus and requires a minimum of 2-3 days of on campus presence.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Strategic Diversity Activities:
Lead innovative and sustainable efforts to cultivate a diverse,
inclusive, and equitable community in the CAMD for all students,
faculty, and staff in accordance with both the university and the
CAMD DEI Action Plans. This includes identifying, developing, and
providing programs, education, training, workshops, events and
supporting activities and scholarly research that promote
diversity, inclusion, and belonging in all facets of the
CAMD. Collect and analyze data from the CAMD community to assess, understand, and respond to the needs and concerns of students, faculty, and staff. Monitor national trends, peer institution efforts, and seek benchmarks for successful diversity initiatives.

Student, staff and faculty engagement initiatives:
Develop and implement initiatives to enhance the CAMD community experience. Liaise with Departments, Advising, Co-op, Undergraduate and Graduate CAMD admissions and university offices such as OGS and UHCS to establish effective information and communication channels and engagement processes. Oversee the operation of the dean's Student Advisory Committee.

Summer Bridge and CAMD F1RST Program Management:
Develop and manage CAMD's Summer Bridge and CAMD F1RST Programs that will focus on outreach and future development to cultivate students. Take the lead in coordinating the programs, identifying mentors, and fundraising opportunities, and planning CAMD Bridge and CAMD F1RST events with CAMD faculty. Collaborate with university-level teams in related areas.
