Loyola University Maryland is seeking an Assistant Director for Disability and Accessibility Services. This position reports to the Director of Disability and Accessibility Services.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring policies, guidelines, and procedures of the Disability and Accessibility Services office comply with Rehabilitation Act Section 504, the
ADA,
ADA as amended, and state and local laws. The position will analyze and interpret diagnostic and psycho-educational assessment reports, ensure accessibility of texts for students with print limitations, consult with Director when needed, in determining appropriate accommodations for eligible students. This position consults with the
ADA/504 Coordinator, University legal counsel, medical consultants, Technology Services,
LND Library, Student Life, Facilities, Parking & Transportation, Environmental Health & Safety, and University dining vendor, deans of students, faculty, other academic appointees, and other administrators. The Assistant Director will recruit and retain students with disabilities, assist the Director in managing the budget, monitor and reconcile accounts; and prepare financial and administrative reports.
Job duties include:
Provide direct student services to recruit and retain students with disabilities. Registers students seeking support services for a disability. Review and compile student files and enter student information into the
DAS database. Prepare student cases for the Disability Documentation Review committee. Conducts intake interviews and communicates to students the student disability accommodation process and resources on campus and refers students for other appropriate services.
Reviews
DAS documents annually and updates them as needed to ensure they comply with state, federal, and local laws and best practices for accommodating college students with disabilities. Assists in evaluating departmental goals/programs/procedures.
Liaison to other University Departments. Notifies Student Life of students who have residential accommodations. This includes students who need wheelchair accessible housing, medical singles, assistance animals, need visual fire alarms, specific
HVAC, or other approved accommodations.
Collaborate with other units at the University to plan disability-related awareness activities.
Master's degree
5 years of related experience
Experience using various computer software and hardware programs to assist students with access; programs to enter and retrieve data; and software to maintain websites. Understanding of modifications, supports and adaptive equipment used by individuals with disabilities in a higher education environment.
