The Coordinator of Transfer and International Admissions develops and manages all facets of the transfer and international student admission’s experience including recruitment, yield activities, and ongoing communication to ensure the enrollment of an academically talented and diverse class. The Coordinator: 1) oversees admission relationships with community and technical colleges, prospective students and families and campus partners; 2) develops a comprehensive communication, outreach/recruitment and marketing plan; 3) develops programs, processes and policies to improve the overall transfer and international student experience. The Coordinator is also responsible for the management of the student caller program. Attendance at all recruitment events sponsored by the Admissions Office throughout the year, including evening and weekend work is required.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Transfer Student Admissions
Develop a comprehensive plan to continually increase the number of transfer students in line with the College’s Strategic Plan.
Oversee the processing of transfer applications, including the verification and review of submitted credentials.
Initiate, develop and maintain strong relationships with counselors and administrators from state and regional 2-year institutions.
Maintain regular communication with the College’s Academic Affairs department to ensure current information on academic programs, 2- year articulation agreements, etc.
Develop innovative on/off-campus and virtual recruitment programs involving Newberry faculty, staff and students.
Develop an outreach plan per semester that ensures regular visitation to the College’s main feeder schools and all technical colleges in South Carolina.
In collaboration with the Admissions and Marketing teams, develop innovative marketing/promotional materials and strategies to enhance Newberry’s visibility and brand to improve outreach and enrollment.
Collaborate with the Associate Director of Admissions, System Operations & Data Analytics to develop, assess, and update a customized communication plan for transfer populations to ensure prompt and on-going contact with students and parents (when appropriate); including email campaigns for FAFSA and college/admissions updates and regular personalized phone calls/texts/emails, etc.
Conduct campus tours and presentations to prospective students, families, and special groups.
Serve as the Admissions liaison with other campus offices to ensure excellent customer service to prospective transfer students/families.
Assist students with enrollment, academic and student services’ processes, such as transcript evaluations, course substitutions, housing and orientation registration, financial aid, and athletic and international support where appropriate.
Work with the Registrar’s office to accelerate transcript evaluations, course substitutions, and other policies and processes important to enrolling transfer students.
Become the “transfer expert” at Newberry, regularly assessing the overall student experience and recommending changes where needed, and in some cases leading the effort to address the changes.
Be knowledgeable about best practices related to the transfer student experience and monitoring national, SC and local trends and issues.
Utilize data systems in the recruitment process (i.e., Jenzabar, Slate).
Establish and achieve Admissions’ enrollment goals for transfer students.
Be knowledgeable about financial aid including FAFSA completion, State/Federal grants and loans and Newberry College scholarships.
Manage all facets of the Student Caller program for the Admissions Office which includes, hiring and evaluation of student employees, developing the schedule for evening calling, and working with the Assistant Dean and Associate Director to develop the communication plan.
Participate in rotation of evening Student Caller supervision, which will require evening `work multiple times a month.
International Student Admissions
Serve as primary admission counselor to international students from prospective stage through enrollment in Newberry College.
Lead the recruitment of prospective students, including reading applications, outreaching students, maintaining comm flow/correspondence, and making admission decision on candidates.
Assist students with understanding international requirements, including English Language Requirements, international transcript evaluations, visa process, and assessment of financial status etc.
Ensure all online registration tasks and electronic student records are up to date in terms of Newberry College requirements.
Serve as Designated School Official (DSO) through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), update and maintain the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) according to Department of Homeland Security regulations.
Serve as the primary person for issuance of I-20 materials- including collecting and processing required I-20 related materials, generating I-20 and international visa paperwork, maintaining accurate records in SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System).
Bachelor’s degree required. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and the public. Knowledge of Slate CRM preferred. Work independently at a high pace and in a highly accountable office. Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and perform a variety of projects and assignments simultaneously and in a timely manner whether in the office or traveling. Operate effectively in both independent and team environments. Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written) in both individual and group settings. Knowledge of social media platforms, a plus. Desire to take initiative and be creative. Become an active member of transfer related organizations such as NACAC/SACAC Transfer Path, South Carolina Transfer groups, Collegefish, PDK. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
