Mills College at Northeastern University (“the University”) has engaged Major Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a global search for an Associate General Counsel (“AGC”).
Overview: The Office of the General Counsel at Northeastern University seeks a full-time attorney to provide support for the University and its California campuses in employment law, general litigation, and a variety of other legal matters. The AGC will primarily be expected to manage and support all aspects of employment and litigation matters in state and federal court as well as administrative agencies on behalf of the University. Additional areas of coverage include faculty affairs, student affairs and student experience, labor, student discipline, academic appeals, Title IX, business and regulatory matters, real estate, facilities, legal research, gifts/donations, and policy design and implementation. The attorney will work closely with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel.

Experience: At least 7+ years of progressively sophisticated experience in employment and general litigation in a law firm and/or in-house in an academic institution or other large, complex non-profit organization.
Location/Relocation: Oakland, CA. with coverage of campuses in San Jose, CA and Seattle, WA. This is a national search, but local candidates are preferred.
Bar Admission: Must be admitted to the California Bar and in good standing.
Travel: 10-15%, with some travel in between West Coast campuses and occasional travel to Boston and/or other Northeastern campuses.
Compensation: $170,280 to $221,365 based on experience, plus benefits.
