The University Police Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full time Assistant Chief of University Police.

Compensation: $115,000-$118,000 commensurate with experience plus full New York State benefits package.

Description of Responsibilities:

• The Assistant Chief of University Police is concerned with the administration of police, security and safety functions at SUNY Oswego in order to assure a proper atmosphere for the pursuit of the educational objectives of the campus community. The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Chief are to supervise the daily activities of the university police, to develop training programs for the campus police and to provide liaison between the campus police and various outside agencies. Schedules hours of duty for university police personnel;
• oversees patrol/investigations and the activities of police and administrative personnel;
• assists in the development and presentation of police/security training programs on campus
• prepares performance ratings for university police personnel;
• assists the Chief of Police in providing liaison with outside law enforcement agencies, as well as with the Office of Student Affairs on campus;
• assists in developing a programming for campus security and safety.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Certified, or eligible for certification as a New York State Police Officer per guidelines of NYS DCJS.
• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree; a well-rounded background in university police administration or college security work.
