Responsibilities:
1.Community Engagement & Citizenship. Encourage and promote student engagement by serving as a catalyst for students to engage in meaningful co-curricular experiences in the Winona community, which will enrich their personal development and further their academic and professional goals while building an inclusive campus community. Coordinate efforts with WSU academic departments, the WSU Associate Director of Student Activities and Leadership, the Warrior Success Center and the WSU Warriors LEAD program to enhance opportunities for students to participate in personal and professional development. Collaborate with LACE (Learning and Community Engagement Committee) to partner with faculty to connect students with community entities who are willing to mentor and seek student involvement. Ensure that community sponsored opportunities enhance the educational mission of WSU and further the development of students. Plan strategies to encourage excellent relations with WSU neighbors and the Winona community at large. Address concerns from the community and facilitate student learning to enhance neighbor relations. Coordinate efforts for activities in the community that foster relationships with off campus partners that enhance the student experience. Collaborate with Winona Police Department, City of Winona, Winona County, and other local higher education institutions.
2.Student Conduct Management. Lead and coordinate the university-wide conduct system including training and sanctions for residence halls, off-campus incidents, and academic integrity. Review and investigate incident reports and referrals of violations of the WSU Student Conduct Code and the Academic Integrity Policy. Meet with students to ensure due process, make decisions, and determine appropriate sanctions in all situations involving conduct and citizenship. Manage the student conduct database for multiple users and provide reports and statistical analysis of conduct cases. This position will train and supervise the all-university Student Conduct Committee and will assist in training Residence Life staff who are involved in student conduct issues. This includes managing the conduct appeal process. Engage as an active member of the Behavioral Assessment and Intervention team (BAIT). Conduct management requires periodic consultation with the WSU Title IX Officer and/or MN State General Counsel. Collaborate and assist the Director of Affirmative Action & Legal Affairs with investigations when appropriate.
3.Student Volunteer Coordinator. Coordinate student volunteers for WSU and community programs, including events such as city-wide cleanup events, Homecoming cleanup, and emergencies such as blizzards, floods, and natural disasters. Collaborate with faculty to coordinate opportunities for student internships, practicum experiences, and academic credit. Organize volunteer opportunities to fulfill conduct sanctions. Understand service learning objectives and work with the Minnesota Campus Compact to promote greater community engagement for students.
4.Parent & Family Liaison. Provide support and resources for parents, families and support persons of WSU students. Respond to questions and concerns while respecting FERPA laws, provide outreach during WSU events such as Choose WSU days, Registration days, and campus tours. Coordinate with Admissions and the Warrior Hub to provide accurate and timely information to parents, families and those supporting students.
5.Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of Winona State University. Including but not limited to participating in professional development opportunities, serving on university committees as appropriate, maintaining effective communication with colleagues, and engaging the Student Life & Development team.
Working Conditions
Occasional travel to professional conferences and training.
Occasional outdoor work to facilitate volunteer programs.
Physical Effort
Must be able to load, unload, carry and set up materials at various event sites.
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or related field
Two (2) years' experience in Student Development, Student Affairs, judicial affairs, residence life, legal issues in higher education or related employment

Knowledge of student conduct, student development theory, and judicial affairs in higher education.
Knowledge of due process procedures and applicable federal and state laws.
Knowledge of civic engagement, co-curricular experiences, Campus Compact and service learning.
Experience with volunteer coordination, placement, and evaluation.
Experience with advisory boards and local government committees.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including conflict management.
Sensitivity to inclusion and diversity issues in higher education.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals in Student Life & Development.
Database management and budgetary skills.
Knowledge of student development theory and FERPA.
Knowledge of communication processes and conflict management theory.
