Job Summary: | The Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement (DDEEA), the central convener and leader for campus-wide diversity and inclusion outcomes at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is seeking a Director for Experiential Learning. This is a newly created position designed to assist DDEEA students in acquiring a variety of impactful experiential learning experiences that facilitate their success in college and beyond.
Expected responsibilities for this position include the following: - Oversee and manage the Internship Program and provide a strategic plan for growth. The position is expected to hold discussions with strategic partners/collaborators to support the growth of the program, including but not limited to academic departments/programs on campus and community organizations off-campus. - Oversee and manage the Global Scholars Scholarship Program and provide a strategic plan for growth. The growth area includes but is not limited to strengthening/expanding our partnership with the International Academic Program to provide study away and study abroad opportunities to meet the needs of diverse students. - Oversee and manage expanded undergraduate research support for DDEEA students, especially those outside of the McNair Scholars Program. This work includes but is not limited to working with DDEEA staff to increase awareness of undergraduate research opportunities in divisional students and support those interested in gaining such opportunities, as well as serving as a liaison to staff/faculty interested in being research mentors to DDEEA students and proving support to these mentors. This position is expected to provide a strategic vision for re-vitalizing a STEM Initiatives Program designed to broaden interest and access to STEM careers in diverse students.
The Director for Experiential Learning reports to the Assistant Vice Provost of High Impact Practices within the Division of Diversity, Equity and Educational Achievement (DDEEA).
About the Division of Diversity, Equity and Educational Achievement (DDEEA) Under the direction of the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Diversity & Inclusion, Vice Provost and Chief Diversity Officer (DVCDI/VPCDO), the Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement (DDEEA/Division) supports the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Madison as it works to create a diverse, inclusive, and excellent learning and work environment for all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners at the university. Responsibilities: | Develops and directs the implementation of strategic student outreach, academic support, and engagement initiatives to support student access and success, promote diversity and equity, and foster a supportive, inclusive environment. Oversees staff and the unit budget. - 20% Serves as the unit liaison by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to advocate for access, inclusion, and student success within the university
- 20% Develops diversity outreach and engagement programs to contribute to the enrichment of the university community
- 20% Directs the development of long-range and short term strategic plans and initiatives and aligns unit objectives to ensure the appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources and adherence to regulations and institutional policies
- 15% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
- 15% Evaluates and implements best practices in recruitment, retention, and engagement of marginalized, underrepresented, and targeted minority student populations, leveraging data, assessment, and technology to drive outcomes
- 5% Leads the planning and execution of advising, academic events, and programs
- 5% Supporting grant writing activities

Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with programs that support diverse students - Experience in implementing and/or managing student experiential learning programs - Experience in supporting the mentors of experiential learning programs, such as professional development/training of mentors - Experience with grant writing and applications, especially those related to supporting experiential learning and professional development of diverse students - Experience in providing academic and/or professional development support to STEM students - Understanding of the experiential learning landscape of UW-Madison; experience in managing these programs at UW-Madison strongly preferred

Salary: | Minimum $84,800 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications Qualified applicants should expect a range of pay between $87,000 and $94,000, but the offered pay will be dependent on qualifications and experience of the chosen applicant. |
