Job Duties:

• Collaborate with Brody School of Medicine, ECU School of Dental Medicine, Eastern AHEC faculty and staff, regional healthcare systems, educational institutions, and other organizations to create and provide high-quality, cost-effective, and innovative educational activities for the region that improve patient outcomes.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outreach and continuing education programs and activities in medicine, pharmacy, dental health, and other health professions as assigned.
• Prepare and oversee budgets and program plans for continuing professional development and outreach programs
• Understand and implement applicable credit/accreditation guidelines and standards for continuing medical, dental, and pharmacy programs.
• Initiate and manage credit applications for educational programs and ensure that data is gathered and maintained such that accreditation and credit provided meet all applicable guidelines.
• Assure Regularly Scheduled CME Series Directors remain in compliance with accreditation guidelines.
• Assure all educational activities providing CME credit, whether within the Brody School of Medicine or outside, meet accreditation standards (ACCME and/or AAFP) and all BSOM CME standards and guidelines.
• Assume primary responsibility for assuring accreditation standards for medicine, dental, and/or pharmacy are met when working with Directors/Assistant Directors of other discipline groups in AHEC during the development of inter-professional activities that include physicians, pharmacists, or dental health professionals as target audience.
• Provide educational support to clinicians using formal and informal learning activities and support access to learning resources.
• Utilize available educational and clinical resources within the Eastern AHEC region, the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine and other appropriate departments of the University, and the Division of Health Affairs of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and other resources to achieve educational goals.
• Monitor, in collaboration with others, workforce trends and issues in medicine, pharmacy, and dental health education regionally and statewide, working with key individuals in the region and across the state.
• Facilitate, support, and implement research activities and projects related to medicine, pharmacy, and dental health education, practice, and workforce development.

• Initiate and maintain effective communication with appropriate professionals and related health agencies and organizations, particularly the Brody School of Medicine, ECU School of Dental Medicine, Eastern AHEC system, and the North Carolina AHEC Program.
• Participate with AHEC faculty and sta*ff in policy decisions and priority setting of activities.
• Supervise staff as assigned.
• Maximize the use of technology to better serve the region.
• Participate in professional organizations as appropriate.
• Participate in professional development activities to keep current with the workforce and educational needs of healthcare providers in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
• Serve as faculty resource to the University and area community colleges for medicine, dental, pharmacy, and other clinical agencies as requested.
• Serve as faculty resource to the statewide NC AHEC for programs, projects, and activities designed to prepare health professionals to meet the health care needs of North Carolina
• Assist the promotion of Eastern AHEC as an information center for health careers information, activities, and statistical data for the region.
• Assist Eastern AHEC to increase awareness and recruitment of academically prepared people into the health professions, with special emphasis on underrepresented minorities.

Special Instructions To Application:

Minimum Education/Experience:

• Master's degree or post-baccalaureate credential in a field related to adult education or health professional field
• One year experience in either adult education or in a health field exhibiting leadership, planning, organization, and management
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience working with a wide range of populations and groups, especially health professionals.
