Position Summary Leadership Development Coordinator Classified as: Student Services Professional III
Full-time position available on or after July 15, 2023
Under general supervision of the Director of Student Leadership & Development, the Leadership Development Coordinator will support the educational and experiential programs of Student Leadership and Development. The incumbent provides leadership, direction, and support for a comprehensive leadership development program for a wide range of the Stanislaus State student community: all students interested in exploring and developing their leadership skills, general members of recognized student organizations (including Fraternity and Sorority organizations), and recognized student organization officers. The incumbent will also be responsible for coordinating civic engagement opportunities, implementing transition programs, and supporting large-scale campus-wide programs and general programs and initiatives.
Job Duties Duties include but are not limited to:
Develop a comprehensive leadership development program inclusive of Stanislaus State's diverse student population, including leadership development, certificate program, workshops, group and individual leadership consultations and advising conferences, and support for other campus-wide student leadership development training initiatives.
Align leadership programs to be consistent with the Leadership Programs CAS (Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education) standards.
Provide group and individual leadership consultations and advising and support other campus-wide student leadership development initiatives.
Chair the annual Dr. Marvalene Hughes Leadership Conference Planning Committee and coordinate the implementation of the conference for Stanislaus State and community college students.
In partnership with the Coordinator for Student Organizations, provide innovative leadership development workshops to support student organization leaders throughout the academic year.
Direct the planning and implementation of the annual University Student Leadership Awards.
Assist with the planning and implementing major campus-wide programs as part of the Student Life and Programming Committee (i.e., Campus Programming, Speaker Series, Warrior Day, Stan Week, Homecoming Week, etc.)
Serve as the work lead for the Leadership Development Intern and Student Assistant.
Develop solutions and make decisions regarding the programmatic and logistical provisions needed. Independently problem-solve on the day of programs/events and respond to issues quickly and effectively.
Establish, interpret, and evaluate program procedures to ensure uniformity and risk reduction.
Compile, track, and reconcile all program budget expenses and receipts.
Research and apply for additional leadership development funding (e.g., Instructionally Related Activities - IRA grants).
Develop programs and materials that facilitate the integration of first-year and transfer students into the University community. Conduct research on best practices associated with transition programming and events.
Coordinate campus events and workshops in the first eight weeks of the semester designed to introduce students to university traditions, create opportunities for developing strong connections to the campus community, and provide on-time delivery of information and resources that provide a solid foundation for students' success.
Work collaboratively with the university community to create a welcoming and engaging environment to integrate students into campus life.
Partner with the university Transition Communication Committee to implement communication strategies that will benefit first-year and transfer students and provide timely delivery of crucial information from admission to graduation to increase student persistence.
Serve as the Chair of the Warrior Welcome Week Committee and collaborate with ASI and campus departments to implement events and programs.
Coordinate with University Communications to create communications and marketing for Fall and Spring Warrior Welcome Weeks.
Serve as the work lead for the Transition Programs Intern and Transition Leaders.
Create and implement a student peer program that complements existing programs pairing upper-class students with new students to provide peer support as they transition to the university.
Plan and implement targeted family engagement and community events such as family day/weekend, community seminars, Family Portal, posts, newsletters, etc.
Develop and coordinate a civic engagement strategy with services and opportunities that build community; promote equity, diversity, and inclusion grounded in strengths-based practice.
Cultivate relationships with community businesses, schools, and social organizations across diverse communities to establish an active network of community resources and volunteers.
Create and maintain a repository of volunteer opportunities utilizing WarriorLife and the Student Leadership & Development website as appropriate. Oversee communications for civic engagement opportunities.
Serve as the liaison with community partners, student organizations, campus groups, and students for volunteer events and service projects.
Coordinate one annual civic engagement event.
Organize and implement Constitution Day for the campus on/near September 17th.
Design and facilitate servant leadership programs.
Work in partnership with the Director of the Office of Service-Learning to identify volunteer sites and protocols.
Participate in the formation and implementation of departmental goals and objectives. Review and analyze existing department policies/procedures and make modifications, as needed.
Responsible for setting student learning objectives/outcomes for programs based upon student needs and university, divisional and departmental priorities.
Initiate and maintain cooperative working relationships with various campus departments, student organizations, faculty, and staff.
Develop intentional assessment practices to address the needs of each community and create action steps to meet those intended outcomes.
Prepare reports and data analysis as directed.
Support other Student Leadership and Development programs and events as requested.
Serve on Division of Student Affairs and University committees as appointed.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the department.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related. Experience: Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. A master's degree in counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in student personnel, higher education, or related field.
Three years of progressive experience in collegiate student affairs, leadership development, civic engagement, or transition on a college campus.
Experience with programming and event planning. Experience creating and implementing leadership programs and activities for students.
Experience facilitating and presenting workshops and leadership training.
Experience with supporting and advising students on a college campus.
Skilled in various Microsoft Office programs.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Salary Range Anticipated salary will be $5,025 - $5,300 per month plus excellent paid benefits. Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist. Full Student Services Professional III range: $5,025 - $7,159 per month
