Summary Position The Center for Race, Ethnicity, and Diversity Education (CREDE) at Elon University advances the conversation on student diversity education campus-wide to develop intercultural competence and provides race and ethnicity related advocacy, services, and programs to promote the intellectual achievement, personal success, and social belonging of all students, faculty, and staff, particularly those from underrepresented and historically marginalized communities. The Associate Director of the CREDE is primarily responsible for coordinating student diversity education and working collaboratively with campus offices to provide support to students based on their social identities through identity development and formation work. This individual develops programs and workshops that increase students' capacity for critical thinking about identity and intercultural awareness issues and works in partnership with administration, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community to create a supportive environment for inclusion. The position will assist the Assistant Dean of Students/Director of the CREDE in serving on and leading divisional and university committees to enhance the experience of students of color.
The Associate Director will help manage the day-to-day functions and operations in the CREDE, including the Student Coordinator program (recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation). This role also involves high student interactions and mentoring, and is a full-time, 12-month position, reporting to the Assistant Dean of Students/Director of the Center for Race, Ethnicity, and Diversity Education.

Education Requirements
Completed masters degree in higher education, student personnel, or related field and at least 3-5 years of progressive post masters experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion work or a related functional area in higher education.
Theoretical knowledge of student development, identity formation, racial equity, and social justice.
Previous experience developing, working and providing diversity education programs with/for college students and student groups.
Demonstrated effectiveness working with students to foster cohesiveness and inclusivity between and among diverse populations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Diversity Education and Identity Formation for Students Provides opportunities for positive, meaningful interactions among students of diverse populations and initiatives to support students in identity development and formation. Serves on campus-wide committees for developing and administering diversity education opportunities and works collaboratively with other university spaces that focus on diversity and inclusion. Creates and maintains resources and dialogue-based workshops on power, privilege, oppression, intesection of identities, inclusion and equity for student organizations, classrooms and departments. Leads the Diversity Emerging Education Program (DEEP). Works collaboratively with the Center for Leadership to provide oversight of the Intersect: Diversity and Leadership Conference.
Forms critical partnerships with Student Life and academic departments to meet students unique needs. Welcoming and Supportive Environment for Students of Color Provides oversight and collaborates on strategies and opportunities for strengthening the community among students of color. Oversees the coordination and implementation of the SMART mentoring program.
Oversees and manages, in collaboration with the program assistant, the student coordinator program (recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation). OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support departmental strategic planning, goal setting, priority completion, evaluation and assessment, and data-driven decision making
Provide departmental leadership in the absence of the director
Additional responsibilities exist based on skill set and experience (e.g., coordination of cultural immersion-like experiences related to the global Latinx/Hispanic experience, design and implementation of conversational Spanish and culture among all Elon populations, including Latinx/Hispanic students.
Support university events, including, but not limited to: Convocations, Commencement, Family Weekend, and events related to Admissions and/or New Student Orientation
Serve as a member of a Student Life Care and Response Team, which includes either serving in a rotational on-call emergency response role or providing initial outreach and follow-up support for student concerns
Serve on university, divisional, or departmental committees, task forces, and search committees
Is available for occasional weekend travel or evening work related to student leadership conferences, retreats, and educational programs
Has a valid drivers license and is insurable by the Universitys carrier.
