Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Dean, the Coordinator of Recruiting and Community Outreach is responsible for creating recruiting events for the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences (CLASS) and fostering strategic partnerships with community college leaders, business leaders, community leaders, and alumni to promote CLASS program offerings and grow new partnerships. The coordinator maintains relationships with all CLASS departments, staying abreast of curricular changes and applies changes for articulated partnerships. The coordinator will also cultivate relationships to aid in CLASS fundraising and alumni engagement. The coordinator interacts professionally with all internal and external stakeholders using strong interpersonal skills and maintains positive relationships with internal and external partners.
Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree. Three years progressively responsible experience in admissions, student services, enrollment services, or related areas. Demonstrated ability to nurture and maintain relationships with internal/external educational and business partners. Knowledge of current trends in higher education admissions, marketing and public relations, transfer and articulation, and community college structure and mission. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree. Experience working with transfer credit and transfer students at 2-year and 4-year institutions. Experience developing partnerships or agreements between 2-year and 4-year institutions. Strong working knowledge of Michigan community colleges. Fundraising, sales, or related experience preferred. Experience working with constituents/alumni from diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
Duties & Responsibilities: Coordinates and staffs CLASS undergraduate recruiting events, including but are not limited to CMU & U Days, Discovery Days, Maroon and Gold events, and the Centralis competition. Serves as the college liaison with Admissions and will regularly coordinate with CLASS departments and programs. The coordinator chairs the college Recruitment Committee, comprised of representatives from CLASS departments. Manages transfer student articulation agreements, pathways, 2+2, 3+1, and 2+3 agreements with community colleges in coordination with Admissions and Innovation and Online. Works with the Dean and Chairs to identify, prioritize, and coordinate CLASS participation in engagement events including education/career fairs held at public and private business organizations, community colleges, K-12 school districts, professional associations, alumni events, and governmental or military locations for purposes of promoting credit and non-credit educational training opportunities. Communicates with CLASS constituents, including business leaders, community leaders, counselors, education officers, alumni, and prospective students to generate support for CLASS programs. Develops and ensures articulation of partnerships with corporate and nonprofit organizations to grow professional relationships and secure enrollment pathways. Seeks alignment of academic strategies and projects to reduce silos and enhance cooperation between divisions and departments within CLASS and across colleges and professional departments at CMU. Maintains and cultivates relationships with all CLASS departments to sustain knowledge and service to ongoing CLASS priorities and programs. Coordinates with the CLASS Deans Office staff to cultivate relationships with alumni and CLASS supporters to aid in CLASS fundraising and alumni engagement. Works closely with the Deans Office Staff to prioritize activities to maximize the growth potential of programs in the college.
