Job Description: **This position is eligible for up to two days remote work per week.
BASIC FUNCTION: Salve Regina University aspires to provide students a deeply aligned academic advising and career development experience as part of the signature Salve Compass Program delivered across the four years of the undergraduate experience. The Career Education Specialist will be an integral contributor in shaping an equitable and accessible career coaching experience for all Seahawks. Reporting directly to the Associate Director, Career Development, the incumbent will support students gaining agency for their career development through individual and group career coaching, as well as collaborative programming with members of the Compass team, student leaders, and staff/faculty colleagues across campus. There will be a particular emphasis on the 2nd year undergraduate student career development progression.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Career Coaching: • Coach students utilizing a holistic and proactive coaching approach to engage students gaining agency for their career development through individual and group meetings (exploring career options, considering identity and career, conducting experiential learning/job/grad school searches/interviews, and navigating career transitions), with a particular emphasis on 2nd year undergraduates • Serve as a key member on the advisory group for Sophomore Year Compass Studios, contributing to developing content and agendas, identifying and training facilitators, communicating and executing logistics, and assessing articulated learning outcomes • Connect students to on and off campus resources (identifying potential collaborations) for self-discovery, experiential opportunities, reflection, decision making, community-building, and successful career transitions • Represent the University on committees and through professional associations, maintaining a pulse through professional development on career coaching best practices Career Resource Management: • Maintain proficiency in job search resource platforms and social media to best communicate opportunities with students (including job and event approvals, marketing events, enhancing student engagement, and creating reports) • Connect with vendor partners stay current with existing and emerging trends and share updates with students in a timely manner • Create how-to videos and documentation to be shared via the website, social media, programming, and curricula for various resources Programming & Assessment: • Create and deliver training/programming/curricula for career development at the University, setting expectations and defining clear and trackable outcomes based on explicit career readiness outcomes (presentations, events, etc.) • Collaborate with student leadership, as well as staff/faculty colleagues to maximize effectiveness of career programming in light of existing campus programming and calendar demands with an awareness of recruiting cycles • Partner with staff and faculty colleagues to develop and assess career development curriculum and modules for Compass Studios • Through an equitable lens, collect and evaluate career coaching data to continually improve practices and address equity gaps
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in trainings and other special programming, as well as other duties as assigned
