Position Summary
The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with academic partners, student affairs units and colleagues in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) to develop/adapt, implement, and evaluate evidence-based academic support programs that foster active, collaborative and inclusive learning environments. This position will also focus on developing and implementing professional-development programs for undergraduate student leaders and mentors.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
1. Program Development and Implementation:
In partnership with academic managers and coordinators, develops and manages peer-led structured group learning programs and drop-in peer mentoring programs for foundational, large enrollment courses.
Manages relationships with Residential College Directors to market and implements Residential Peer Mentoring programs. Manages the placements of the residential peer mentors in close collaboration with the academic coordinators and departmental partners.
In partnership with the course instructors, identifies program needs, manages and coordinates recruitment of (100+) peer leaders and mentors for the different academic support programs.
Manages ongoing administrative, technical and content support for the student leaders/mentors.
Manages hiring and bi-weekly payroll of peer leaders and mentors.
2. Data Tracking, Management and Evaluation:
Collects and maintains attendance data for the different academic support programs.
Develops and administers surveys to collect feedback from students and campus partners.
Analyzes and writes reports on programs and events.
Shares program reports with campus partners as needed.
3. Teaching and Professional Development:
Collaborates with Learning Center team and academic partners to develop curriculum and teach training courses for undergraduate student leaders/ mentors.
Provides constructive feedback through observation of peer mentoring sessions and provide ongoing professional development opportunities for leaders/mentors.
Creates opportunities for student leadership within programs.
Works with Learning Center colleagues to develop workshops and other trainings for faculty and staff, student employees, and undergraduate students.
4. Communications and Campus Partnerships:
Coordinates representation of the Learning Center through campus partnerships, website content creation and management, informational presentations and family/student outreach.
Participates in Center for Teaching and Learning working groups and university committees as assigned.
5. Personal Professional Development:
Stays current on the best practices of student learning, peer-to-peer academic support, and group-learning and mentoring programs.
Remains current on trends in academic support models in higher education through engagement with relevant professional organizations and recent literatue.
Attends and participates in workshops and conferences to continue to develop professionally and to bring back and share new understandings with the rest of the Learning Center team.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Masterâ™s Degree or PhD in STEM fields, Education, Social Work or in any related field.
Two to three years of experience in designing/implementing/coordinating programs/projects in higher education.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and partners.
Experience in developing/facilitating workshops.
Experience managing/mentoring students or student employees.
Experience in developing courses and teaching.
Knowledgeable about best practice pedagogy in group learning and active learning strategies.
Experience in working with Student Information databases.
Experience with data management and analysis and survey design using Qualtrics or similar tools.
Attention to details, excellent planning, organizational and problem solving skills required to manage logistics of multiple programs.
Ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships with campus partners.
Knowledgeable about student development and how students learn.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in relevant field and two years of related experience or Bachelorâ™s degree in relevant field and four years of related experience.

Salary Range
$57,300.00 - $97,700.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
