Job Summary:
Lead efforts in the Office of New Student Courses for an engaged and experiential on-campus living and learning experience for first year students. Develop and manage experiential learning initiatives for the residential learning community program (RLC), including developing the residential curriculum and the connected UNIV sections. Implement assessment efforts for the UNIV course experiential learning curriculum and the RLC program.
Essential Duties:
Experiential Learning and Residential Learning Community Curriculum and Administration:
Manage the residential learning community program under the direction of the Associate Director for Experiential Learning. This includes the recruitment and training of staff and student staff members, coordination of student placement, and fulfilling the MOU with Housing and ARL.
Build and manage partnerships with colleges and departments across campus to support and enhance experiential and residential learning opportunities in the UNIV classroom and in the residence halls. This includes regular meetings regarding the outcomes of the RLCs and their associated programs.
Develop and implement course curriculum for the residential learning communities that is experiential, themed, and major-related.
Develop and implement experiential and residential curriculum for the RLCs that enhance course outcomes and meet out of class learning outcomes through programming and faculty/staff/partner engagement.
Develop and implement robust spring programming for the RLCs that includes possible coursework, organized trips, and experiential learning opportunities for students.
Based on assessment and analysis of key performance indicators for the university, develop new RLCs for the university to support student retention and engagement.
Assessment:
Assist the Director and Associate Director in developing student learning outcomes for UNIV course experiential learning curricula based on data analysis and key performance indicators. Develop assessment plans based on those SLOs and course curriculum.
Develop and implement assessment plans for the Residential Learning Community program.
Develop and implement assessment plans for experiential learning in the UNIV courses.
Teaching and Student Employee Supervision:
Day to day supervision of Graduate Assistants, including regular communication, retention, on-going development and recognition of staff.
Manage student staff, including communication and performance oversight.
Teach UNIV courses focused on student success and academic readiness topics.
Development and training of student staff for their roles inside and outside of the classroom learning communities based on the diversified needs of the UNIV courses and RLCs.
Performs other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree with minimum three (3) years of experience with advising, student development and supervision, tutoring, supplemental instruction, first year seminars, first year programming, or equivalent relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree with five (5) years of experience.
