Job Summary:
This role recruits and evaluates freshman and transfer applicants to support Northwesterns undergraduate enrollment goals, exercising discretion in the review of confidential admission materials. As a member of the Admissions Communications team, you will manage social media platforms and supervise a team of student communications coordinators. Serving a regional admissions territory, this position plans and implements strategic recruitment practices, both long-term and short-term, and provides detailed and nuanced counseling to students, families, and counselors. You will join a collaborative, student-centered staff who celebrate innovative approaches in higher ed, and who find joy and pride in admissions work.
Please note: Some evening and weekend work required. Frequent travel by airplane. 3 - 5 weeks annual travel, frequently outside Illinois required. Ability to lift 20-pound boxes of recruitment materials.
Specific Responsibilities:
� Manage a regional recruitment territory. Plan and execute outreach activities to meet University enrollment goals and University strategic plan. Develop, implement and assess strategic recruitment by targeting schools, programs, and students within territory. Build and maintain productive working relationships with college counselors and community based organizations (CBOs) to establish a successful recruitment campaign. Track, evaluate and report relevant recruitment statistics. Organize high school visits, college nights, on-campus events and other strategic recruitment events. Out-of-town travel 45 weeks in the fall with other local and out-of-town travel as assigned.
� Lead on-campus information sessions as on-duty director in visitors center on rotational basis. Answer student/family queries by phone, email, and in person.
� As member of admission committee, read, evaluate and render an admission decision for a minimum of 1,800 freshman and transfer applications. Apply independent judgment by interpreting institutional priorities during the application evaluation process to determine applicant admission to the freshman and transfer class. Must exercise independent judgment to interpret and apply University admissibility standards to meet enrollment targets. Plan and organize reading quotas to meet deadlines.
� As member of the communications team, develop Undergraduate Admissions social media presence within broader college admissions social media landscape and within Northwesterns University-wide social media landscape.
� Hire, train, and supervise team of student communications coordinators.
� Track social media analytics, identify social media opportunities, and stay up-to-date on new social media trends. Create social media content, guide and vet student-driven content, and oversee student blogs.
� As member of communications team, coordinate parts of Admissions digital presence, focusing on YouTube channel. Collaborate with other Admissions teams on content creation, oversee technical aspects of live programming, manage channels layout, and track analytics.
� Participate in other communications team projects when appropriate & available.
Minimum Qualifications:
� Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree.
� 1-3 years experience in college admission/recruiting, or equivalent experience.
� Experience in administration, project management, customer service, public relations, supervision, and/or event coordination.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
� Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
� Excellent writing, editing and communication skills.
� Strong speaking/communication skills and ability to speak effectively before audiences of up to 500 or more.
� Requires valid driver's license and frequent business travel by plane.
� Ability to work effectively with time and volume pressures. Must be able to meet deadlines.
� Ability to communicate inclusively with all members of Northwestern community (students, faculty, staff, alumni) as well as prospective students and families from around the world.
� Ability to meet department and University goals.
� Ability to work outside normal business hours including evening and weekends.
� Requires independent judgment, discretion and diplomacy.

� Advanced knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
� Familiarity with Sprinklr and Linktree
� Familiarity with video recording and editing
