Success Coach positions serve an integral function in support of the University's mission and focus on student success, academic persistence, student retention, and degree and course completion. Responsibilities include day-to-day engagement with students and the implementation of success programming in support of the Division of Enrollment Management for all undergraduate students —including College Credit Plus, Direct from High School, Transfer, military and non-traditional. In addition, the position supports a robust integrated approach connecting work efforts with all units that affect student success: including New Student Orientation, First-Year Seminars, Placement Testing, Financial Aid, Raider Connect, Academic Advising, Tutoring, Math Learning Center, University Writing Center, Career Services, the University Center for International Education Center, Undergraduate and Transfer Admission, Student Advocacy and Wellness Center, and the College Credit Plus program. This position works with undergraduate students of the new fall cohort to provide support for students to maintain their enrollment and academic standing.
Required Qualifications::
Master's degree plus 3 or more years professional experience; or bachelor's degree plus 7 or more years professional related experience
Proficient in MS Office and Internet
Excellent written, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, in addition to superior customer service abilities
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple diverse projects at the same and work autonomously
Must be able to maintain discretion in confidential matters.
Some evening and weekend hours required.
Preferred Qualifications::
Higher education experience.
Experience with university computer systems i.e. BANNER Admin, EAB-Navigate, Pilot, Slate.
Experience designing, planning, developing programs and measuring outcomes in an academic environment.
Experience working with diverse student populations.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
70%
Staff and support new-student, in-person orientation sessions and other orientation-related programs.
As a department instructor, facilitate first-year seminar courses, content, learning outcomes, evaluations and student enrollment.
Facilitate with the Office of Marketing, and implement a robust communication plan, to initiate outreach with first-year cohort students.
Create connections with first-year cohort students during the pre-enrollment period to include but not limited to, engagement via new student orientation, placement testing, academic advising and course enrollment activities.
Initiate individual follow-up and case notes for first-year cohort students in need of referrals and support. Work with academic and faculty advisors, student affairs, and other student service units to ensure that students are receiving applicable academic and support interventions.
Coordinate and implement special projects and first-year cohort program series, aligned with University priorities, and targeting specific populations, as determined and by the VP of Enrollment Management.
Respond to individual cases assigned by the AVP for Student Success.
