GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Instructor is responsible for teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) in a respectful, student-centered, culturally inclusive setting. This position is responsible for teaching beginner ESOL non-credit course(s) off-campus in Bourne, MA. There may be opportunities to teach beginner ESOL part one and part two at our Hyannis Campus, contingent upon increased enrollment.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes, using a variety of methods, techniques, and tools, including, but not limited to scaffolding, higher-order thinking skills, and differentiated instruction to accommodate differences in learning styles toward increasing student skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Utilize Burlington English to create technology-rich learning communities where students develop language proficiency, build workplace soft skills, and mater digital literacy.
Select and develop appropriate materials for class use using a blended-learning approach.
Prepare and deliver engaging learner-centered lesson plans that incorporate a broad range of instructional techniques and strategies.
Provide a supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility.
Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial instruction to meet the needs of individual students and subgroups of students.
Administer academic language assessments for evaluating student's level of ability and progress.
Maintain record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures (attendance, student progress).
Communicate classroom/student issues to the Director in a timely manner.
Assist with and participate in ESOL related programmatic planning/implementation meetings/events.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in ESL/EFL/TESOL/English or related majors.
Appropriate experience and/or training and licensure when applicable.
Proven experience as an ESOL instructor/trainer, consultant, coach/mentor; familiarity with organizational development principles, adult learning theory, language teaching methodology, and intercultural communication.
Understanding of effective teaching methodologies and tools.
Willingness to embrace and adopt new learning technologies and techniques.
Demonstrated commitment to remaining current in emerging trends, topics and new research in subject matter area(s) of expertise.
Proficient in MS Office Suite.
Phenomenal communication, presentation and public speaking skills.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in ESL/EFL/TESOL/English or related majors required to teach college preparation courses.
Three years of experience in ESOL adult education, with demonstrated ability to relate to the needs and interests of adult students.
Experience using ongoing formative and summative assessments to inform teaching.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Bilingual abilities.
Knowledge of diverse adult populations.
Ability to teach Digital Literacy skills to students.
Excellent organizational skills.
Experience with multicultural students.
Excellent problem-solving skills.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: Part-time, project-based paid at $50/hour of agreed upon instruction. Non-unit, Non-benefited position.
