The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, an eight-member financial aid team that works collaboratively with the college community to coordinate the disbursement of more than $60 million annually to approximately 6,000 students, invites applications for a Financial Aid Advisor.
In this exciting role, you will work closely with colleagues both inside the Department and across campus to deliver a full range of financial aid services and counseling to SUNY Oneonta students and their families, with a focus on student access and retention as the foundation for all engagement. Duties include but are not limited to:
Work closely with other student services offices to provide complete and accurate financial aid information.
Provide excellent customer service, guidance, and advisement in support of the student and family financial aid experience.
Maintain current federal and state regulations and laws, applicable policies, and procedures that impact financial aid.
Assist the SUNY Oneonta community in ongoing compliance efforts; assist students and families regarding the types of financial aid programs available, program requirements, responsibilities, and application procedures.
Perform public speaking both on campus and to local high schools and other constituencies, both in person and virtually.
Manage at least one student aid program or student population; assess operational effectiveness relative to that program or population.
Actively participate in financial literacy initiatives occurring across campus.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of one year experience in a customer service area, student services office, or similar setting.
Experience working independently with limited supervision.
Preferred:
Experience working in a college/university financial aid office administering Federal and/or New York State financial aid programs.
Experience working in higher education.
Experience with Ellucian Banner and/or other financial aid or scholarship management software systems.
Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups.
