The Internship and Student Employment Specialist will be responsible for helping students to find an internship and provide comprehensive support before, during and after their experience, and will also be responsible for building and implementing programming to enhance student employment at Ithaca College, in coordination with faculty and staff campus-wide.
Department
The Internship and Student Employment Specialist will report to the Associate Director of the Center for Career Exploration and Development in the Enrollment and Student Success division. Ongoing communication and coordination will be necessary with the Provost’s Office, the Registrar’s Office, Human Resources, and Student Financial Services.
Starting Salary Range
$55,000 - $59,000
Essential Responsibilities
Internships
Work with campus leadership to identify and centralize internship opportunities that are offered across all schools and departments at Ithaca College
Conduct regular outreach with alumni, community members and employers across the globe to establish and maintain internship pipelines and opportunities in coordination with the Center for Career Exploration & Development
Assist students looking for internships and help them identify and prepare for their internship opportunities
Assess and evaluate programs, student experiences and outcomes
Utilize data and feedback from all involved stakeholders to appropriately evolve programming in the best interest of students
Research best practice models and workforce development trends to maintain innovation and relevance before and during program design
Oversee and maintain database that will house internship information for all students at IC
Coordinate uniform training and evaluation process for student interns to allow for ongoing communication and reflection
Maintain and enhance internship website for both internal and external audiences
Be able to assist students with resumé, cover letter, networking and interviewing needs
Student Employment
Help implement system to promote and post positions clearly and efficiently
Assist supervisors in enhancing job descriptions to include NACE competencies
Create and deliver ongoing professional development for supervisors to provide meaningful, real-world opportunities in each of their student employment positions
Create and deliver training program for students in advance of their first day of employment, and throughout the year
Maintain and enhance student employment website for both current and prospective students and families
Partner with Student Financial Services to ensure Federal Work Study guidelines are followed and work to further promote FWS opportunities for students, including on-campus positions as well as off-campus positions with community partner organizations
Assist students looking to navigate student employment opportunities and be available to answer questions as they arise
Design, coordinate and implement career-related workshops, events and fairs related to student employment opportunities
Partner and meet regularly with a counterpart in HR to establish and maintain proper protocol regarding payroll and required documents-related inquiries

Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree
Dedicated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
At least one year of experience in a related position or field
Proficiency in Excel and Word
Demonstrated ability to successfully create and develop programmatic and process improvement initiatives
Outstanding customer service skills
Preferred
Masters degree in higher ed or related field, or 3-5 years of experience in a related role
Professional experience in a higher ed setting
Experience with Handshake, LinkedIn, Oracle, or similar platforms
