Reporting to the Programs Manager, the Program Coordinator provides high-level support for the graduate programs in the College of Architecture and Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design. The Coordinator supports the chairs, plans and executes special events/projects for the academic programs, and serves as a liaison between architecture and internal/external contacts as needed.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Program Coordinator for Graduate Architecture
Work closely with the Chair of Graduate Architecture, responsible for the management of day-to-day operations of the program:
Provide high-level support for all aspects of the graduate architecture programs to include two Master of Architecture tracks, Master of Science in Architectural Studies, and the Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design.
Answer questions/provide resources to students, student organizations, faculty, and program chairs on Graduate School of Architecture and Sam Fox School academic policy and procedures.
Provide high-level administrative support to the program chair.
Collaborate with the chair on course planning processes and develop a plan to be submitted to the programs manager.
Manage course waiver process to meet accreditation standards; collect documents, serve as point of contact for students and faculty, and communicate results to registrarâ™s office.
Lead and manage student work archives for print and online publications, work with chair to develop and implement strategic plan for Graduate Architectureâ™s student work archive.
Coordinate special programs and events to include graduate orientation, option studio lottery, technical reviews, graduate master class, graduate collaborative studio, symposia, etc.
Track expenses for accounts specific to graduate architecture.
Provide coordination and support for graduate architecture committees.
Support student organizations for graduate architecture.
Program Coordinator for Urban Design
Work closely with the Chair of Urban Design; responsible for the management of day-to-day operations of the programs:
Provide high-level support for all aspects of the urban design programs.
Coordinate special programs and events to include fall masterclass, spring masterclass, and field trips.
Answer questions/provide resources to students, student organizations, faculty on policy and procedures.
Work with chair and support staff to complete directives identified by the director.
Track expenses for accounts specific to urban program.
Provide coordination and support for urban design committees.
Program Coordinator for Landscape Architecture
Work closely with the Chair of Landscape Architecture, responsible for the management of day-to-day operations of the programs:
Provide high-level support for all aspects of the landscape program.
Coordinate plans for special events, workshops and faculty meetings.
Organize and provide guidance on travel and transportation for students and faculty for field trips.
Answer questions/provide resources to students, student organizations, faculty on policy and procedures.
Work with chair and support staff to complete directives identified by the director.
Track expenses for accounts specific to the landscape program.
Provide coordination and support for urban design committees.
Support student organizations for graduate landscape architecture.
Architecture Special Projects
Working with colleagues across the school, contributes to a range of strategic activities:
Support recruitment activities and events, such as open houses and visit days
Collect and organize student work in a repository for recruitment, communications, and publication projects
Organize student competitions and logistics, including jurying, award distribution, and needed paperwork.
Coordinate student exhibitions including the annual Year End Show.
Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelorâ™s degree and three to five years previous experience working in higher education administration, student services and/or graduate or undergraduate design-related programs.
Experience managing confidential materials.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated writing/editing skills.
Ability to work successfully in a student-centered academic environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects at once; ability to synthesize and prioritize information and projects.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
Three years relevant experience.

Salary Range
$20.76 - $32.21 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
