Reporting to the Director of Office of International Services, the Assistant Director, Office of International Services, provides support services to foster the education and development of international students and scholars.
Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 students and an ARO for J-1 students/scholars.
Develops and implements systematic procedures for assessing the needs of international students and developing and maintaining programs to meet those needs, specifically for the graduate student population.
Advises and serves as a university-wide resource on guidelines and policies regarding international student immigration requirements, benefits and obligations, with a specific concentration on graduate and professional schools.
Manages communications to graduate and professional school students on information regarding US immigration obligations, rights and requirements under the law.
Assists incoming graduate students with I-20 applications and advisement.
Addresses immigration inquiries and provide advising for students.
Process work authorizations, STEM validations, and H1B transitions.
Guides students through OPT and STEMOPT applications.
Performs other tasks as assigned by the director.
Bachelor's degree in any field
1 year experience in higher education and/or studying or living abroad
Demonstrated Expert level with knowledge of the F and J regulations and advisement.
Experience with SEVIS and batch programs
Experience with Banner and ISSM or similar software
Experience managing student-centered programming and overseeing students, staff/workers
US citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required in order to be a DSO/ARO
Experience with web editing and the development of guidance documents
Experience with inter and cross-cultural programming is a plus
