Conduct investigations involving offenses that occur on or adjacent to the campus. Work in conjunction with other public safety agencies involving matters that pertain to Providence College.
Receive, store, control, and make proper disposition of all contraband, lost and found property, and all other property similarly acquired by the department not classified as evidence. Maintain a property control log to document all items.
Collect relevant reports and information from Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) to distribute a daily report to other College departments. Providence detailed, written investigative reports including submission and communications with the Office of the General Counsel and the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students.
Participate in formal and informal meetings with students and other members of the college community in security related matters. Follow up on investigations regarding non-criminal cases as designated by the Chief of Public Safety. Posses the ability to operate assorted technical equipment to be used in investigating incidents on campus. Assist members of the Providence Police Department or other public safety agencies investigating criminal activity occurring on college property. Maintain criminal arrest/suspect records regarding individuals who have had contact with the department. Maintain a log of repeat offenders who have been subject to being barred from the campus.
Monitor social media sites utilizing the appropriate social media tools.
Marginal Duties:
Perform all other duties as may be required.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
Three to five years' experience in public safety with an emphasis on investigations or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of word processing and database systems.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work under deadline pressure and to prioritize assignments while juggling multiple tasks.
Discretion and the ability to keep all records, communications, and other information confidential.
