Position summary:The Associate Director will activate a passion for creative entrepreneurship through thought leadership that incorporates theoretical framework program building and implementation. The position will work with MICA leadership and the Ratcliffe Center for Creative Entrepreneurship (RCCE) team to expand on the core focus of moving impact-driven ideas from the classroom into industry transforming work.
The RCCE facilitates a partnership between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, with an emphasis on integrated curricular and co-curricular programming, strengthened partnership building and research based resource development.Â

General purpose: Â The Associate Director for Entrepreneurship infuses a creative entrepreneurship practice with business skills as an integral element of education at MICA through program development, entrepreneurship training, 1-1 advising, while building internal and external partnerships.
Â
Major role functions:Â
Serve as the primary campus entrepreneurship resource for RCCEâs co-curricular programming in terms of information, recruitment, refinement, marketing, and implementation
Partner with the Director and faculty leadership on the overall vision and day-to-day efforts of Ratcliffe Center for Creative Entrepreneurship
Work collaboratively with campus leaders to develop an action based strategy for MICAâs integrated curricular and co-curricular entrepreneurship programming that pilots and expands on existing and new initiatives Â
Develop and maintain a network of community partners, mentors, and internship sites that support entrepreneurial students and alumni
Advise students and alumni in 1-1 appointments related to entrepreneurship and business
Â
Position responsibilities:Â
Maintain a student-centered and service-oriented approach
Grow the breadth and depth of current entrepreneurship focused co-curricular offerings
Lead the JUST/Start Idea competition from promotion, ideation, application, pitch advising, program set-up and community engagementÂ
Serve as the primary campus resource and organizer of UP/Start Venture Competition â generate interest, build resources, provide expert coaching, identify mentors and judges, design and implement curriculum, collect progress reports and develop and manage all critical processes from application to Pop-up & Pitch, IMET Pitch & Mix, media capture, public relations to finale and finale event
Develop the UP/Start accelerator curriculum with the Director and Entrepreneur in Residence; where appropriate include industry expert guest speakersÂ
Host quarterly student & alumni co-working entrepreneur incubator engagements to keep MICAâs entrepreneurial community continuously connected
Establish and maintain MICAâs Creative Entrepreneurship Venture portfolio by keeping documentation of MICA entrepreneurial alumni to include press articles, status updates, new website links, changes in business model and contact details
Develop and lead in-class workshops collaborating with the Career Development office on entrepreneurial topics
Work with RCCE Director to expand and grow the ENTRE/Play online tool library to increase use access and assessment
Assess the MICA community, including alumni, through instruments such as surveys and focus groups to identify priority areas for entrepreneurial education and programming
Research latest best practices for entrepreneurship education methods and provide insights during team innovation challenge meetings and write entrepreneurship conference proposalsÂ
Work with entrepreneurs in the Baltimore community to determine the strengths and challenges of MICA candidates, providing feedback to enhance student outcomes. Develop and maintain a roster of mentors, judges, speakers, panels and community partners Â
Coach and advise current students and alumni in appointments related to entrepreneurship, freelance, and business
Develop resources for students and alumni to connect to local and national business support structures that includes partnering with BCAN where relevantÂ
Serve as faculty for students completing an entrepreneurship internship for credit, grade assignments, conduct internship final presentation meetings with groups of students and visit internship sites, to ensure students make the most of their experiential education
Seek out the E/Intern community partners and lead the jury selection processÂ
Develop, assess and create reporting for RCCE programming for the RCCE and Student Affairs annual reports
Oversee the design, develop and distribution of the RCCE Zine called Outside the Lines Journal
Work with Strategic Communications office along with media team and student designer to market the RCCE through social media, print, video and web
Provide tools and useful resources for the RCCE newsletter to promote upcoming entrepreneurship opportunities Â
Maintain and manage co-curricular program expenses in alignment with budget procedures Â
Participate in Student Affairs division and planning committees, and related programs
Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Background in business development including necessary resources for business planningÂ
Background in program administration and event management
Knowledge of art and design fields
Experience generating and giving presentations and pitches
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a broad range of constituents
Excellent oral and written communication and organization/planning skillsÂ

Minimum qualifications:Â
Bachelorâs Degree, preferably in business or related fieldÂ
Relevant experience including business generation, project management, event planning
Previous experience with small business advisement and entrepreneurship ownershipÂ
Â
Preferred Qualifications:
Masterâs Degree, preferably in business or related field
Experience working with college students or in an educational setting
Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite
