Summary Position We are excited to welcome a new member to the SPDC team in a role dedicated to the growth and strategic development of career services for student-athletes. Housed in Athletics, this role will partner closely with Academic Support for Athletics, working with Academic Advisors to understand the unique professional development needs of the student-athlete population at Elon.

General Purpose of Position Why Elons Student Professional Development Center?
The Student Professional Development Center (SPDC) is Elon Universitys career services office. The SPDC supports the professional development of all undergraduate and graduate students, except for Elon Law. Elon Law has a dedicated team of career advisors located on the Elon Law campus in Greensboro. The SPDC also provides professional development assistance to alumni for a lifetime.
The SPDC works under a hub and spoke model with operations centralized out of the main office in the Moseley Student Center. Each 'spoke' is led by a Senior Associate Director. SPDC has satellite offices in the Love School of Businesss Koury Business Center and in the School of Communications McEwen Building. Its critical for these satellite offices to be embedded in our two largest professional schools. Although staff can work with all students, the staff in each satellite office have expert insight into the industries and fields of their perspective schools.

How you will Achieve More with the Student Professional Development Center (SPDC) at Elon University:
This position acts as the liaison between the SPDC and Athletics, working closely with staff in both departments to assure that services rendered are meeting the needs of student-athletes across Elon University. The position will provide one-on-one career advising/coaching for all Elon student-athletes, engage with employers to identify internships and full-time job opportunities, assist in the planning and execution of SPDC career programs and events, and create and manage athlete-specific career development programs. In addition, this position is responsible for tracking student-athlete job and internship placement, regularly synthesizing and communicating that information to the Assistant Vice President of the SPDC and the Athletic Director.

The Student Professional Development Center (SPDC) team is a self-motivated and lively group, with an innate curiosity to learn. This team includes 20 individuals who are eager to do everything that they can to help Elon students and alumni. You will report to the Assistant Vice President of the Student Professional Development Center, who oversees the strategic vision of the SPDC for the university. The team works closely together to coordinate efforts and use individual strengths. We enjoy an inclusive environment that is looking for a culture add. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Providing career development coaching and advising for all Elon student-athletes.Serving as a bridge between Elon Athletics and the SPDC to access appropriate career development resources.Creating and facilitating student-athlete career development programming.Assisting in delivering SPDC programs such as the Job & Internship Expo, the Graduate & Professional Fair and other events held on campus throughout the year.Working with corporate & employer relations team to identify internships and full-time opportunities for student-athletes.Meeting with coaches and athletic administration on a regular basis to identify and help coordinate summer internships for student-athletes.Advocating for student-athletes in SPDC programming.Teaching a student-athlete focused Elon 1010 course every fallTracking employment and graduate school acceptance by student-athletes, collect outcome information and support First Destination reporting.Coordinating communication of outcomes success through presentations, collateral materials or other forms of media.Representing the SPDC and Elon Athletics to develop relationships with alumni and potential employers by attending Phoenix Club meetings and other university functions during the year.Interfacing with Elon Athletics and assisting in recruiting events for prospective athletes and their parents as requested. Demonstrating a commitment to NCAA rules, compliance, and adherence to NCAA regulations.The position will report to the SPDC in close collaboration with Elon Athletics.
