We are seeking a Medical Assistant for the full-time position in the East Baltimore office with a requirement for availability to travel to other Baltimore area campuses and to the DC campus for service delivery and in-person meetings, when necessary. This may include being available on evenings and weekends for extended clinic hours, outreach programs and crisis or emergency response.
The MA works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to optimize patient outcomes and is responsible for providing comprehensive and age-appropriate primary care to the students/learners of Johns Hopkins University.
This is a 1.0 FTE full-time non-exempt position, reporting directly to the Clinic Manager.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Obtains vital signs and patient history such as medications, allergies and smoking status.
Performs in house laboratory and screening tests, procedures and treatments per protocol and as ordered.
Administers medications and immunizations.
Acts as chaperone during female gynecological exams, breast exams, and male genital exams.
Obtains all specimens including venipuncture as ordered.
Prepares lab specimens and accurately completes forms for transport.
Ensures safe and efficient patient flow including reviewing clinic schedules and monitoring waiting rooms.
Tracks high-risk referrals and lab tests.
Facilitates safe transitions of care.
Organizes practice environment to assure patient safety and quality outcomes.
Maintains exam rooms, lab(s), and supply storage areas including quality controls, inventory and coordinating with outside contractors for biohazard waste removal, laundry, etc.
Performs monthly equipment checks.
Contributes to HEDIS and designated quality measures.
Supports team with administrative tasks associated with forms, and medication/insurance preauthorization.
Adheres to standard precautions for infection control.
Attends monthly meetings, participates in committee work and educational programing.
Serves as a super user for EHR.
Assist with new staff training.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required
Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant (e.g. CMA, AAMA, RMA, AMT, NAHP) required. If not currently certified/registered, must become certified/ registered within 180 days (6 months) of date of hire. Exam fees will be paid by the department. If a retest is required, associated fees are paid by the employee
Current CPR certification by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required
Must maintain MA and CPR certification/registration during duration of employment in this position
Preferred Qualifications
Two years' experience in an ambulatory care setting.
Able to learn new technology with ease including electronic health records and MS Suite, EPIC, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint experience a plus.
Has working knowledge of third-party reimbursement policies and protocol.
