Wittenberg University is seeking a Multi-Media Advisor. Reporting to the Provost, this individual will facilitate the publication of Wittenberg's student newspaper, The Torch, as well as help manage Wittenberg's online streaming radio station, WUSO, The 'Berg. This is a part-time, 10-month, exempt-level, administrative position.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Recruit, retain, and develop students to produce content for student media outlets.
Collaborate with the Office of Admission for both on- and off-campus new student recruitment-related activities for the Torch and WUSO, including Open Houses, Accepted Student Days, and high school recruitment events.
Teach up to 8 credits annually of relevant undergraduate coursework related to campus media.
Supervise publication and operations of The Torch and WUSO. This will include the supervision of student employees and student volunteers.
Collaborate with the Office of Student Development to assure student organization compliance.
Develop, oversee, and monitor all budgeting, operational, and fundraising accounts related to the operations of WUSO and The Torch. Adhere to university procedures related to purchasing and travel expenditures.
Collaborate with academic departments that contribute to the Journalism & Integrated Media minor on course offerings or other connections to Wittenberg's Curriculum.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc.
Job Requirements:
Requirements:
Master's degree in Communication, English, Journalism, or related field.
1-3 years experience with digital media publishing - online news and radio or podcasting.
Membership in College Media Association (can be obtained within first three months of employment).
Travel and some evening and weekend work.
A valid driver's license is required; must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures. If license is from out of state, successful candidate will need to obtain a valid Ohio driver's license within 30 days of hire date.
Preferred experience:
1-3 years professional experience within a multi-media newsroom.
1-3 years teaching college-level courses.
1-3 years advising/supervising student-produced media.
