Student Health and Well-Being (SHWB) Mental Health Services at Johns Hopkins University seeks an energetic, organized, and motivated Mental Health Services Clinician and Coordinator of Outreachto work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment focused on delivering innovative mental healthcare and supporting the well-being of a diverse community of learners. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director for Outreach, the Mental Health Services Clinician and Coordinator of Outreach is part of a growing team of embedded clinicians who will focus on providing supportive services to students for in-person graduate and undergraduate academic programs in locations across the Homewood campus, such as the Ralph O'Connor Recreation Center. The goal of the embedded counseling program is to bring visibility and access to mental health resources services outside of the traditional clinic setting.
The Mental Health Services Clinician/Coordinator of Outreach focuses primarily on utilizing generalist clinical skills and experience, along with expertise in outreach, education and consultation as essential mental health interventions. This position coordinates outreach efforts for the Homewood clinic location and supports the implementation of the vision for outreach and mental health promotion across the University. The person in this position works collaboratively with the Outreach team to develop programs that emphasize holistic wellness, physical and mental well-being, as well as leverage students' resilience and other key skills. As with all staff within Mental Health Services (MHS), this Mental Health Services Clinician/Coordinator of Outreach will also operate as a generalist who provides a full range of clinical services including initial consultations, individual goal-directed therapy, workshops, groups, and crisis intervention. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in clinical work and all professional activities.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Outreach Duties (40%)
Develops and implements opportunities for informal interactions with students, including student-athletes, at the Ralph O'Connor Recreation Center and other campus venues to reduce barriers to counseling, which may include offering drop-in hours, attending student events, and participating in other a range of student-led and student-focused programs.
Consults with Health Promotion, Recreation and Athletics staff and administrators to proactively address the holistic wellness needs of student-athletes and the broader community of JHU students to help eliminate barriers to counseling and mental health services.
Develops, executes, and evaluates psychoeducational workshops and outreach presentations for all JHU students and learners, including coordination of logistics, ensuring MHS staff representation to deliver programs, and managing presentation requests from various offices and student groups.
Participates in outreach and educational activities including resource fairs, community meetings, and training to JHU faculty, staff and students.
Manages the MHS social media accounts, including Instagram and Twitter accounts, maintaining knowledge about best practices in utilizing social media as mental health promoting interventions.
Clinical Duties (45%)
This position's direct clinical service responsibilities will be primarily based at the Homewood clinic and locations on the Homewood campus.
licensure in Maryland is required within 6 months of hire (see minimum qualifications for substitution/equivalency).
Licensure in Washington, D.C. is desirable, but NOT REQUIRED for this position.
Create a warm and welcoming clinical environment where clients feel supported and respected as they pursue their personal, academic, and professional goals.
Provides culturally informed direct clinical services, including initial consultations, intake assessments, single-session therapy, individual, group and relationship counseling, and crisis intervention for a diverse community of undergraduate and graduate students, these services will primarily be provided at locations across the Homewood campus such as the Ralph O'Connor Recreation Center, as well as the Homewood MHS clinic.
Utilizes both flexible and goal-oriented approaches to individual treatment, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and interpersonal therapy, often in collaboration with treating psychiatrists.
Collaborates with providers with SHWB as an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Consults, as appropriate, with providers in the community to facilitate continuity of care.
Participates in after-hours (as backup to ProtoCall) on-call rotation.
Collaborative & Other Activities (15%)
Remains abreast of current literature and research on student behavioral health and evidenced-based group intervention strategies.
Contributes to professional development of trainees and SHWB staff through provision of didactic training and seminars.
Participates in case consultation, student risk management, peer chart reviews, and other departmental committees as requested and assigned.
Participates in MHS recruitment and hiring processes.
Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information (Working Conditions)
Schedule, this position requires evening and weekend work dependent on the programmatic needs of the University and for activities during the academic year (e.g. orientation, special events, etc.) The Ralph O'Connor Recreation Center is open as late as 10:00 p.m., evening, weekend and flexible hours are possible and should be discussed with supervisor.
This position is designated as a Required Attendance Employee, designated as vital to the operation of a work group, so may be required to work during a university closure in response to operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in counseling, psychology, or social work from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 2 years post-graduate clinical experience.
Licensed as a mental health provider in required jurisdiction(s) noted in job description (LMFT, LCPC, LCSW-C) or license-eligible (must obtain licensure in required jurisdiction(s) within 6 months of hire)
SUBSTITUTION/EQUIVALENCY: Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in psychology from an APA accredited program and completion of an APA internship may substitute for the required 2 years of post-graduate experience. Licensure must be obtained as a psychologist in required jurisdiction(s) noted in job description within 12 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an accredited program.

Clinical experience in a university setting strongly preferred.
